2016 Alps Tour ...
The 2016 Alps Tour was the 16th season of the Alps Tour, one of four third-tier tours recognised by the European Tour. It was the first Alps Tour season in which all events received Official World Golf Ranking points, as OWGR points were introduced midway through the 2015 season. Schedule The season consisted of 17 events in seven countries. Graduates The top five players (not otherwise exempt) on the Order of Merit earned Challenge Tour cards for 2017. Since the second-place finisher earned Challenge Tour status in a higher category by making the cut in the final stage of Q School, the sixth-place finisher received the fifth card. Alps Tour
The Alps Tour is a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco. Established in 2001, it is a third level tour, the highest level of men's golf in Europe being the European Tour, and the second level being the Challenge Tour. Other third level tours in Europe include the United Kingdom-based PGA EuroPro Tour, the Germany-based Pro Golf Tour, and the Nordic League in the Nordic countries. Beginning in July 2015, the four third-level tours will carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Like the other third-tier European tours, the top ten players on the Order of Merit are exempt through the second stage of European Tour Qualifying School, and the top five win playing privileges on the Challenge Tour. The European Tour Qualifying School is an annual golf tournament which enables professional golfers to gain a place on the European Tour and its official development tour, the Challenge Tour. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Victor Perez (born 2 September 1992) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
