2015–16 Maryland Terrapins Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represented the University of Maryland, College Park in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by fifth year head coach Mark Turgeon and played their home games at Xfinity Center. This was their second year as members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season with a record of 27–9, 12–6 in Big Ten play to finish in a four-way tie for third place in conference. They defeated Nebraska in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to Michigan State. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated South Dakota State and Hawaii to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. In the Sweet Sixteen, they lost to Kansas. Mark Turgeon
Mark Leo Turgeon (born February 5, 1965) is an American college basketball coach. Turgeon served as the head men's basketball coach at Jacksonville State University from 1998 to 2000, Wichita State University from 2000 to 2007, Texas A&M University from 2007 to 2011 and University of Maryland, College Park from 2011 to 2021. Personal Mark Turgeon was born and raised as one of five children in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from Hayden High School, Turgeon attended The University of Kansas, where he earned a bachelor's degree in personnel administration in 1987. He is married to Ann Fowler, whom he met at KU, and together they have three children. Playing career Turgeon played basketball at Hayden High School, helping the team post a 47-3 record and capture two consecutive Class 4A state championships in 1982 and 1983. 2014–15 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2014–15 Big Ten men's basketball season began with practices in October 2014, followed by the start of the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. It marked the first season for Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's basketball, Rutgers and Maryland Terrapins men's basketball, Maryland in the Big Ten Conference. 2014–15 Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team, Wisconsin won the regular season title and the 2015 Big Ten Conference men's basketball tournament. Dezmine Wells (born April 15, 1992) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Qingdao Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association. He played college basketball for the Xavier Musketeers and Maryland Terrapins. High school career Wells played high school basketball at Word of God Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina where he was a friend of and teammate with current Houston Rockets guard John Wall. Poolesville is a U.S. town in the western portion of Montgomery County, Maryland. The population was 5,742 at the 2020 United States Census.
