2015 MAVTV 500
The 2015 MAVTV 500 IndyCar race was an open-wheel motorsport event held on June 27, 2015, at the oval course at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. It marked the 11th round of the 2015 season and unlike the previous season, was not the championship's final race of the season. The race featured an IndyCar Series record 80 lead changes. The race was the first race since the 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship to feature pack-style racing. While many observers applauded the race as being the most exciting race in IndyCar history (Jan Wagner of the ''Del Mar Times'' called it "one of the best IndyCar races ever"), others questioned the racing as being too dangerous. The race ended with a spectacular airborne crash from Ryan Briscoe, who was uninjured. MAVTV 500
The MAVTV 500 was an IndyCar Series race held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The event represented a continuous lineage of open wheel oval racing in the Southern California-area that dates back to 1970. Since 2012, the event had been sponsored by MAVTV, a motorsports cable channel owned by Lucas Oil. For many years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the race served as the season finale for the CART series. 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship
The 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship was the scheduled final race of the 2011 IndyCar Series season, 2011 IZOD IndyCar series. It was to be run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada USA on October 16, 2011, and was scheduled for 200 laps around the facility's 1.544 mile oval. The race, however, was red-flagged on the twelfth lap after a massive crash triggered by contact between Wade Cunningham and James Hinchcliffe. Driver Dan Wheldon died as a result of the crash, which led to IndyCar officials cancelling the remaining 188 laps of the event. The incident is widely considered to be the worst crash in modern motorsports history; aside from Wheldon's death, several other drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries and many of the vehicles involved had either flipped over or caught fire. Jack Hawksworth
Jack W. Hawksworth (born 28 February 1991) is a British professional racing driver from Bradford, West Yorkshire. , he competes in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for AIM Vasser Sullivan. Sébastien Olivier Bourdais (born 28 February 1979) is a French professional racing driver. He is one of the most successful drivers in the history of American open-wheel car racing, having won 37 races. Ryan Christopher Hunter-Reay (born December 17, 1980) is a professional American racing driver best known as a winner of both the Indianapolis 500 (2014) and the IndyCar Series championship in 2012. In each accomplishment, Hunter-Reay became the first American to win since Sam Hornish Jr. in 2006. Josef Nicolai Newgarden (born December 22, 1990) is an American race car driver who competes in the IndyCar Series full-time for Team Penske. He is the 2017 and 2019 IndyCar Series Champion and 2011 Indy Lights champion. Career Karting Newgarden's first race vehicle was a motorized scooter purchased at a skate shop in Hendersonville, Tennessee. In 2001, Newgarden competed in events across the country. William "Will" Steven Power (born 1 March 1981) is an Australian motorsports driver who currently competes in the IndyCar Series, driving for Team Penske. Scott Dixon
Scott Ronald Dixon (born 22 July 1980) is a professional racing driver from New Zealand, who competes in the NTT IndyCar Series for Chip Ganassi Racing.
