2015 International Darts Open
The 2015 International Darts Open was the fifth of nine PDC European Tour events on the 2015 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at the SACHSENarena, Riesa, between 19–21 June 2015. It featured a field of 48 players and £115,000 in prize money, with £25,000 going to the winner. Michael Smith won his second European title after defeating Benito van de Pas 6–3 in the final. Van de Pas ended Michael van Gerwen's winning streak of 21 games on the 2015 European tour and hit the two best checkouts (167 and 158) of the tournament en route to the final. Prize money The prize fund was increased to £115,000 after being £100,000 for the previous two years. Qualification and format The top 16 players from thPDC ProTour Order of Meriton 9 May 2015 automatically qualified for the event. Sachsen Arena
The Sachsen Arena (often styled SACHSENarena) is a sports arena in Riesa, Germany. It opened in 2004. Under a sponsorship deal in effect until 2012, it was originally named Erdgas Arena. It holds 5,500 people. It is primarily used for ice hockey. It is used for many world level dance competitions called the World Dance Championships run by the International Dance Organization, including a showdance and tap dance competition in which representatives of as many as 50 different countries vie to become "World Champion". This is the only official world championships and is recognized as being "the Olympics of dance". Justin Pipe
Justin Pipe (born 9 November 1971) is an English former professional darts player who has played in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was a former top 10 player. Playing career Pipe was a boxer in his youth, and, as a staunch anti-smoker, he refused to play darts in local pubs as the cigarette smoke would make his eyes water. In 2007, a smoking ban was introduced to England which enabled him to restart his darts career. He first emerged at the 2008 UK Open as a pub qualifier. He defeated Geoff Wylie and Lionel Sams before losing 9–3 to James Wade in the third round. Following this performance, he joined the PDC Pro Tour and reached the same stage of the UK Open a year later, this time losing 9–5 against Andy Jenkins. Jamie Lewis
Jamie Lewis (born 8 November 1991) is a Welsh professional darts player who currently plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and World Darts Federation (WDF) events. His biggest achievement to date was reaching the semi-finals of the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship where he lost to Phil Taylor. Career Lewis won the World Masters and WDF World Cup boys' events in 2009. Lewis reached the last 24 of the 2010 World Masters, losing 2–3 in sets to Ted Hankey. Matthew Edgar
Matthew Edgar (born 28 August 1986) is an English darts player currently competing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career 2011 Edgar joined the PDC in 2011, and qualified for the UK Open. He defeated Nigel Heydon, Andy Pearce and Martyn Turner on the way to the last 32, where he lost 5–9 to Andy Boulton. 2012 In January 2012, he entered the Professional Darts Corporation Pro Tour 'Q School' qualifying tournament. On the first day, Edgar lost to Darren Whittingham 6–4 at the final stage. After four days playing in the event in Barnsley, Edgar gained his professional tour card for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Dean Winstanley
Dean Winstanley (born 10 February 1981) is an English professional darts player. He first took up darts as a two-year-old, stopped playing at the age of 12, and then started playing again when he was 22. He turned professional in 2008 and won his first event at the 2010 German Open. Darts career BDO Winstanley won the German Open, England Open, and Belgium Open in 2010. As a result of his performances on the BDO circuit, he qualified for the 2010 Winmau World Masters as the fourth seed. John Henderson (born 4 May 1973) is a Scottish darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Henderson started out in the PDC circuit and played one tournament in Scotland as well as the 2003 UK Open where he lost in the first round, having won his preliminary match. He then qualified for the 2005 BDO World Darts Championship, where he beat Stephen Bunting in the first round before losing in round two to Martin Adams – hitting a record thirteen 180s (for a five-set match) in the 3–2 defeat. Henderson then reached the quarter-finals of the 2005 British Open and the last 32 of the 2005 Winmau World Masters. Henderson reached the final of the 2007 British Open. Ken MacNeil
Ken MacNeil (born December 16, 1975) is a Canadian professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation events. Career MacNeil qualified for the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship by finishing fourth in the North American Order of Merit. In the preliminary round, he defeated Guyana's Norman Madhoo 4–2. In the first round, he lost 3–2 to Alan Tabern. He represented Canada with John Part in the 2012 PDC World Cup of Darts and together they reached the second round by defeating Hungary 5–3. MacNeil then beat 15-time World Champion Phil Taylor in his singles match, but they would eventually succumb 3–2 to the English duo of Taylor and Adrian Lewis, having lost a sudden death leg. Stephen Bunting
Stephen Bunting (born 9 April 1985) is an English professional darts player who competes in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Nicknamed The Bullet, Bunting won the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship and is a twice former World Masters champion. Darts career Beginnings Bunting won both the British Teenage Open and the World Youth Masters in 2001 and also captured the WDF Europe Youth Cup in 2002. Jamie Caven
Jamie Robert Caven (born 10 March 1976) is an English former professional darts player who plays in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events. He has won seven events on the PDC Pro Tour, including two in the same weekend in May 2013. Caven was also the World Youth Masters champion in 1993. Early life Caven has no sight in his right eye, after being stung by a bee when he was 18 months old. At the age of 17, Caven won the World Youth Masters. When he was 20, tumours were found in his pancreas resulting in its removal and his requirement to have four insulin injections a day for the rest of his life. Steve Beaton
Steve Beaton (born 5 April 1964) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the BDO World Darts Championship in 1996 and is a former World No. 1. Background Beaton was born in Coventry, Warwickshire, England. BDO career Beaton made his World Championship debut in 1992, at a time when the world darts championship was still a unified tournament. Dave Chisnall
Dave Chisnall (born 12 September 1980) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He began his career in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and was the runner-up in their World Championship in 2010. He switched to the PDC a year later where he has since reached six major TV finals and won 17 PDC ranking events.
