2014 Sydney Darts Masters
The 2014 Sydney Darts Masters was the second staging of a tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, as a fourth and final entry in the 2014 World Series of Darts. The tournament took place at Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Australia, between 28–30 August 2014. The tournament featured eight top PDC players and eight qualifiers competing in a knockout system. Phil Taylor retained his title by beating Stephen Bunting 11–3 in the final. Prize money The total prize fund was £73,000. Hordern Pavilion
Hordern Pavilion is a building located in Moore Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on the grounds of the old Sydney Showground. "The Hordern", as it is affectionally known by Sydneysiders, has been an architecturally and socially significant Sydney landmark since its construction in 1924. Now best known as a dance party and rock concert venue, the Hordern Pavilion was originally constructed for the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales to meet the increasing demands for exhibition space at the Royal Easter Show. Raymond Van Barneveld
Raymond van Barneveld (born 20 April 1967) is a Dutch professional darts player. Nicknamed Barney, although originally known as The Man, he is one of the most successful darts players in history. Van Barneveld is a five-time World Darts Champion (four-time BDO and one-time PDC), a two-time UK Open Champion and a former winner of the Las Vegas Desert Classic, the Grand Slam of Darts and the Premier League. Damon Heta (born 10 August 1987) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the Brisbane Darts Masters in 2019 and also, in pair with Simon Whitlock, World Cup of Darts in 2022. His nickname is "The Heat", a play on letters within his surname. Noel James Kyle Anderson (14 September 1987 – 24 August 2021) was an Australian professional darts player who played within the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from 2012 to 2021. He won the 2017 Auckland Darts Masters tournament. Career He started playing darts at the age of six and had competed in tournaments since he was nine. He first became interested in the game watching his father play. Anderson was an Aboriginal man of Noongar origin. Johnny "John" Weber (born 29 November 1972) is a former professional Australian darts player. Career In 2011, Weber won his first title by claiming the Victorian Easter Open with a 7–2 victory over Jamie Browne in the final. David Platt (born 22 April 1967) is an English-born Australian professional darts player who competed plays in events of the World Darts Federation (WDF). Career Platt competed at the 2003 PDC World Darts Championship, where he was defeated in the first round by Steve Brown of the United States. Shane Tichowitsch
Shane Tichowitsch (born 9 January 1967) is a former professional Australian darts player. Career He qualified for the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship. He is a semi-professional darts player and has been as high as 93 in the world. He qualified for the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship, however he was defeated 1–3 by Andy Smith in the last 64 of the competition. In 2012, Tichowitsch won four successive events on the DartPlayers Australia tour, later finishing top of the Order of Merit and therefore returned to the World Championship in its 2013 edition. He lost to Dave Chisnall 0–3 in the first round, but his performance did not reflect the scoreline, with Chisnall admitting Tichowitsch deserved more out of the game.
