2014 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup
The 2014 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup was the 16th edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body in aquatics, the International Swimming Federation (FINA). The event took place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from 12 to 17 August 2014. The United States won the gold medal by defeating Australia 10-6 in the final. Spain captured bronze, beating China 7-5. Format 8 teams qualified for the 2014 FINA World Cup. They are split into two groups of 4 teams. After playing a round-robin every team advanced to the quarterfinals. The best ranked team of Group A played against the fourth ranked team of Group B, the second ranked team of Group A against the third ranked team of Group B the third ranked team of Group A against the second ranked team of Group B and the fourth ranked team of Group A against the best ranked team of Group B. Rita Keszthelyi
Rita Keszthelyi (born 10 December 1991) is a Hungarian water polo player. At the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, she competed for the Hungary women's national water polo team in the women's tournament. She scored two of the goals that helped Hungary win the bronze medal match at the 2020 Olympics. She has played more than 300 water polo matches for Hungary. Roser Tarragó Aymerich (born March 25, 1993) is a Spanish water polo player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed for the Spain women's national water polo team in the women's event, where they won the silver medal. Keesja Gofers
Keesja Gofers (born 16 March 1990) is an Australian water polo player. Gofers won the silver medal at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Spain, and the bronze medal at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In the 2020 Olympics, the Australian Stingers went through to the quarterfinals by finishing second in their pool. They were beaten 8-9 by Russia and therefore did not compete for an Olympic medal. Bronwen Knox
Bronwen Knox (born 16 April 1986) is an Australian water polo centre back/centre forward. She attended Hartwick College and Griffith University, earning a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, and works as a laboratory assistant. She started playing water polo when she was fourteen. She played for the National Water Polo League's Queensland Breakers before switching to the Victorian Tigers for the 2012 season. In 2013–14 season she played for the Greek powerhouse Olympiacos in the European competitions, winning the LEN Trophy. Knox has represented Australia as a member of Australia women's national water polo team on both the junior and senior levels. Glencora Ralph (born 8 August 1988) is an Australian water polo centre back/driver. She attended the Curtin University of Technology and is a dental therapist. She competes for the Fremantle Marlins in the National Water Polo League, and was on sides that won the league championship in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. She has been a member of the Australia women's national water polo team on the junior and senior level. She has won gold medals at the 2011 Canada Cup and at the 2007 FINA Junior World Championships. Margaret Ann Steffens (born June 4, 1993) is an American water polo player. She won the gold medal with the United States at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Steffens set a new Olympic record for the most number of goals scored by an individual player in women's water polo at the Olympic Games. Early career Steffens played water polo at Monte Vista High School and helped the team win their league championship in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She also played for Diablo Water Polo in Alamo, California. College career Steffens attended Stanford University, playing on the women's water polo team from 2013 to 2017. Rachel Fattal (born December 10, 1993) is an American water polo player. Fattal attended Los Alamitos High School and graduated in 2012. She then attended UCLA, where she majored in history and played water polo; she graduated in 2017. She was part of the American team winning the gold medal at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships, where she played in the driver position. She was also part of the gold medal-winning American team at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was the top sprinter at the 2016 Olympics, with 17 sprints won. Kiley Neushul
Kiley Susan Neushul (born March 5, 1993) is an American water polo player and a graduate of Stanford University. Neushul was selected as one of 13 players who represented the USA and won a Gold Medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was also a part of the gold medal-winning American team at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships, the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, and the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.. Courtney Lynn Kaiulani Mathewson (born September 14, 1986) is an American water polo player, part of the US team that won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She played water polo for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins during their four-consecutive NCAA National Champion Women's Water Polo championships, and was named to the All-Tournament first team. At UCLA, she majored in sociology. College career During the 2008 season, Mathewson scored 54 goals in 33 matches.
