The 2014 European Karate Championships, the 49th edition, was held at Tampere in Finland from 1 to 4 May 2014. A total of 481 competitors from 44 countries participated at the event. Tampere ( , , ; sv, Tammerfors, ) is a city in the Pirkanmaa region, located in the western part of Finland. Tampere is the most populous inland city in the Nordic countries. José Carbonell (karateka)
Josep Carbonell Rodès (also given as José, born 27 January 1957) is a retired Spanish sprinter who specialized in the 60 metres. As a junior he won a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 1975 European Junior Championships. He competed in the 60 metres at the 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981 (50 metres), and 1982 European Indoor Championships without reaching the final. He became the Spanish 100 metres champion in 1975 and 1981, rivalling with Javier Martínez, Ángel Ibáñez, José Luis Sarriá and José Luis Sánchez. He also became the Spanish 60 metres champion in 1975, 1979, 1980 and 1981. Jonathan Horne
Jonathan Horne (born 17 January 1989) is a German karateka. At the 2018 World Karate Championships in Madrid, Spain, he won the gold medal in the men's +84 kg event. He represented Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He also won the gold medal in his event on seven occasions at the European Karate Championships, most recently at the 2021 European Karate Championships held in Poreč, Croatia. Career Horne won the gold medal in the men's kumite +80 kg event at the 2009 World Games held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
