2013 FIA WTCC Race Of The United States
The 2013 FIA WTCC Race of the United States was the ninth round of the 2013 World Touring Car Championship season and the second running of the FIA WTCC Race of the United States. It was held on 8 September 2013 at the Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, United States. Race one was won by Tom Chilton of RML, his first victory in the World Touring Car Championship. Race two was won by Gabriele Tarquini of the Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team. Honda secured the 2013 Manufacturers' Championship in race two. Background Muller was leading the drivers' championship by 132 points over Michel Nykjær. Muller had his first mathematical opportunity to secure a fourth world title in race two. Nykjær was leading the Yokohama Independents' Trophy. The Honda Civic WTCCs gained 10 kg under the compensation weight re-calculation to take them up to 1,160 kg. Michel Nykjær
Michel Nykjær (born 17 September 1979) is a Danish auto racing driver. Nykjær is a two-time European Touring Car Cup winner. Career Early years Between 1989 and 1993 he spent his early racing years in karting. After a break, he returned to motorsport in 1998, with saloon cars in the Danish Group N Championship. He stepped up to the Danish Touring Car Championship in 2003, and was crowned champion in 2007 for SEAT Racing Team, in a SEAT Leon. Pepe Oriola
Josep "Pepe" Oriola Vila (born 9 July 1994) is a Spanish racing driver. He became the youngest driver to race in the World Touring Car Championship when he competed in the 2011 season. Oriola is not only the youngest driver to start a WTCC race at the age of 16, he’s also the youngest to be on the podium and to have won a race. Feats he achieved in Brazil in 2011 and Morocco in 2013 respectively. James Thompson (racing Driver)
James Thompson (born 26 April 1974 in York, England) is a British auto racing driver. He has twice been champion of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), and was third in the 2007 World Touring Car Championship. Racing career British Touring Car Championship Thompson started racing in the BTCC in a privately entered Peugeot 405 in 1994, his performances earning him a factory Vauxhall drive for 1995. Robert Peter "Rob" Huff (born 25 December 1979) is a British professional racing driver. He currently competes in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) driving for Zengő Motorsport. He was the 2012 World Touring Car Championship champion and the 2020 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship champion. José María "Pechito" López (born 26 April 1983) is an Argentine race car driver who is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing and 2014–2016 World Touring Car Champion. He raced in the 2006 GP2 Series for the Super Nova team, and previously for the DAMS team, and the CMS team in Formula 3000. He was also at Renault F1 as a test driver. Frédéric Nicolas "Fredy" Barth (born 5 December 1979 in Lucerne) is an auto racing driver from Switzerland. He currently drives in the World Touring Car Championship.
