2012 FIA WTCC Race Of Hungary
The 2012 FIA WTCC Race of Hungary was the fifth round of the 2012 World Touring Car Championship season and the second running of the FIA WTCC Race of Hungary. It was held on 6 May 2012 at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród near Budapest, Hungary. The first race was won by Yvan Muller for Chevrolet and the second race was won by Norbert Michelisz for Zengő Motorsport. Background Yvan Muller arrived in Hungary leading the championship from both of his Chevrolet team mates, 27 points ahead of Rob Huff with Alain Menu a further point behind. Pepe Oriola was leading the Yokohama Independents' Trophy. Isaac Tutumlu left Proteam Racing after the Race of Slovakia, reducing the team to one car for Mehdi Bennani. Mogyoród
Mogyoród is a small traditional village in Pest County, Hungary. The Battle of Mogyoród took place here on 14 March 1074, between Solomon, King of Hungary and his cousins Géza and Ladislaus, who were claiming rights to the throne. To commemorate the victory, László Benchmarks were installed, establishing a monastery on Klastrom mountain. Among the sights of the village is the Roman Catholic church, built between 1745 and 1749, the statue of St John of Nepomuk, carved from stone, and the Baroque parish built by the Bishop of Vác. The Hungaroring race track is located in the town, home to the Hungarian Grand Prix. FIA WTCC Race Of Slovakia
The FIA WTCC Race of Slovakia, currently the FIA WTCR Race of Slovakia, is a former round of the World Touring Car Championship, currently of the World Touring Car Cup, held at the Automotodróm Slovakia Ring, in the village of Orechová Potôň, Slovakia, away from the capital city of Bratislava. The race made its debut in the World Touring Car Championship as the fourth round of the 2012 season and as a replacement for the proposed Argentinian round. The race was held for another four consecutive years, until 2016, not being included in the 2017 season calendar of the series. It returned however as a round of the inaugural World Touring Car Cup season in 2018, as a replacement for the cancelled Argentina round. Gabriele Tarquini
Gabriele Tarquini (born 2 March 1962) is an Italian racing driver. He participated in 78 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on May 3, 1987. He scored a single championship point, and holds the record for the most failed attempts to qualify. He has subsequently raced successfully in Touring Cars, winning the BTCC in 1994, the ETCC in 2003 the WTCC in 2009 and the WTCR in 2018. On 22 November 2009 he won the 2009 FIA World Touring Car Championship title at the age of 47 years and 266 days. This made him the oldest ever world champion in an FIA series, breaking Juan Manuel Fangio's record of being FIA Formula One World Drivers' Champion at the age of 46 years and 41 days in 1957. Stefano D'Aste (born 26 February 1974 in Genoa) is an Italian auto racing driver. His early racing career included competing on motorcycles and the Monza International Rally. Tom Coronel
Tom Romeo Coronel (born 5 April 1972) is a Dutch professional racing driver. Tom's twin brother Tim is also a racer, just like their father Tom Coronel Sr. His most important results are winning the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3 race in 1997, the Formula Nippon championship in 1999, and the 2006 and 2009 World Touring Car Championship Independents' Trophy. As of September 2016, Tom Coronel has driven over 1,000 races. He is currently still racing in the WTCC, where he won his first WTCC race in Okayama, Japan in 2008. Alberto Cerqui (born 20 June 1992, in Brescia) is an Italian racing driver. He has competed in the World Touring Car Championship. Career Single seaters After winning titles in karting, Cerqui graduated to single-seater racing in 2009, racing in Formula Azzurra. Lukoil Racing Team
Lukoil Racing team is the leading Russian motorsport organization; its operations including management, driver training and support, engineering expertise and a quality technical environment, which enables continuous development, building, testing and race preparation. Russian competitions The team was created in 1997 to participate in the Russian Formula 3 and Tourism-1600 championships. With a European level of organisation and sponsorship from the Lukoil oil company, the team became the main force in the Russian autosport arena. Unfortunately though both series have now ended.
