2012 Archery World Cup
The 2012 Archery World Cup was the 7th edition of the annual international archery circuit, organised by the World Archery Federation. As 2012 was an Olympic year, the World Cup consisted of three, not four legs. The best individual and mixed performers in each discipline over the three legs then joined host representatives in qualifying for the finals. After failing to be selected for the Korean Olympic team, Kim Woo-jin defeated defending champion Brady Ellison in a one arrow shoot-off to win the men's individual recurve world cup final for the second time, while fellow Korean Ki Bo-bae defeated top seed Deepika Kumari to add her first world cup victory to her Olympic title. In the compound discipline, Braden Gellenthien and Jamie van Natta produced the second consecutive United States clean sweep, while the United States topped the nations ranking for the third consecutive year. Archery World Cup
The Archery World Cup is a competition, started in 2006, organized by the World Archery Federation, where the archers compete in four stages in four countries and the best eight archers of each category (from 2010, four archers during 2006-09) advance to an additional stage to contest the Archery World Cup Final. This form of competition was introduced following the success of the 2003 World Archery Championships in New York and the 2004 Summer Olympics with the intent of making the sport more popular and attractive to spectators, with the matches being held in 'spectacular' locations and the final matches being broadcast online. It has received plaudits for its innovative approach to the sport, raising its profile and reach. Antalya Centennial Archery Field
Antalya Centennial Archery Field ( tr, Antalya 100. Yıl Okçuluk Sahası) is an archery field located in Antalya, Turkey. Situated in Meltem neighborhood, the archery field on lawn has the dimensions , where 50 targets can be placed. İt has a seating capacity for 500 spectators. The venue was leased to the Antalya Archery Club (Antalya Okçuluk İhtisas Kulübü) on November 17, 1998, for 49 years by its owner, the Directorate General of Youth and Sports. Laurence Godfrey (archer)
Laurence Paul Godfrey (born 9 June 1976, in Bristol) is a British archer. He studied for an HND in Mechanical Manufacturing at the University of the West of England from 1997 to 2000. 2004 Summer Olympics Godfrey was the only British male to qualify for the men's tournament at Athens 2004. He competed for the United Kingdom (as Great Britain) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first three elimination matches, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Godfrey faced Chen Szu-yuan of Chinese Taipei, defeating Chen 110–108 in the 12-arrow match and advancing to the semifinals. There, he faced Marco Galiazzo of Italy, losing to the eventual gold medalist 110–108. Luis Antonio Álvarez Murillo (born 13 April 1991, in Mexicali), also known as El Abuelo (The Grandfather), is a Mexican athlete who competes in archery. Markiyan Volodymyrovych Ivashko (Ukrainian: Маркіян Володимирович Івашко; born May 18, 1979) is a Ukrainian archer. 2008 Summer Olympics At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Ivashko finished his ranking round with a total of 658 points, which gave him the 32nd seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Daniel Morillo in the first round. The Spanish archer won the match by 115–107. Morillo would be eliminated in the following round by Juan René Serrano. Together with Oleksandr Serdyuk and Viktor Ruban he also took part in the team event. With his 658 score from the ranking round combined with the 678 of Ruban and the 676 of Serdyuk, Ukraine was in second position after the ranking round, which gave them a straight seed into the quarter-finals. Im Dong-hyun (; ; born 12 May 1986) is a South Korean archer. He competes for the South Korean national team and is a former world number one. He has 20/200 vision in his left eye and 20/100 vision in his right eye, meaning he needs to be 10 times closer to see objects clearly with his left eye, compared to someone with perfect vision. Cheng Chu Sian (; born 1 March 1986 in Kuala Lumpur) is an athlete from Malaysia, who competes in archery. 2008 Summer Olympics At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Cheng finished his ranking round with a total of 660 points. This gave him the 26th seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Matthew Gray of Australia in the first round, 109-101. With a win over Matti Hatava of Finland (110-103) he qualified for the third round and there he faced Lee Chang-Hwan of South Korea. Both archers scored 105 points in the regular match and had to go to an extra round. Here Cheng advanced with 19 points, while Lee hit 18 points. In the quarter finals Cheng was unable to beat Bair Badënov of Russia (109-104). Badënov went on to win the bronze medal.
