The 2011–12 Club América, América season was the 65th professional season of Mexican Primera División, Mexico's top-flight football league. The season is split into two tournaments—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each with identical formats and each contested by the same eighteen teams. América began their season on July 25, 2011 against Querétaro F.C., Querétaro, América play their homes games on Sundays at 4:00pm local time. Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Club América or simply América, is a professional football club based in Mexico City. Nicknamed ''Las Águilas'' (The Eagles), it competes in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football. The club was founded in 1916, and since 1959 has been owned by media company Televisa. The team plays its home games at the Estadio Azteca, the largest stadium in Latin America, and one of the largest stadiums in the world. América is one of the founding members of the Primera División. The club has a long-standing rivalry with Guadalajara, as both are the most successful and most popular teams in the country, and are the only clubs to have never been relegated. Juan Carlos Valenzuela (footballer)
Juan Carlos Valenzuela Hernández (born 15 May 1984) is a Mexican former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), centre-back. He is popularly known by his nickname "Topo". Club career Atlas Valenzuela came up from the CF Atlas, Atlas youth system, debuting in Clausura 2003 against future club Estudiantes Tecos, Tecos UAG. José Joaquín Martínez
José Joaquín Martínez Valadez (born 22 February 1987) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Liga MX club Cruz Azul. His nickname is ''Shaggy'', as he resembles the Scooby-Doo character, Shaggy. Club career Martínez played 38 Primera División matches for Club América before being released in 2012. After spending several seasons at the Ascenso MX with Necaxa, Martínez would finally go on to re surge to first division with Pachuca. With Pachuca, Martínez has won a Liga MX title and has been essential part of Diego Alonso's tactics. Martínez would again spend one semester at Mineros de Zacatecas before returning to Pachuca during the summer 2017 transfer window to replace the departure of Stefan Medina. Paul Aguilar
Paul Nicolás Aguilar Rojas (born 6 March 1986) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Aguilar represented Mexico at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2011 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the Copa América Centenario. Club career Pachuca Paul Aguilar began his career with Pachuca in 2002. He started off in Pachuca's affiliate (second division) team, Pachuca Juniors. In 2004, he was loaned to Indios de Ciudad Juárez for two seasons in order to gain more experience. After returning to Pachuca in 2005 and making 27 appearances with the "B team" (Pachuca Juniors), Aguilar made his first-team debut in the 2006 Apertura tournament on 6 August in a match against Cruz Azul, with the match ending in a 2–3 defeat.
