2011 Brisbane Lions Season
The 2011 season was the Brisbane Lions' 15th season in the Australian Football League. The club also participated in the pre-season NAB Cup and, after getting knocked out in the first round, the NAB Challenge. Brisbane Lions
The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. The Lions are one of the most successful AFL club of the 2000s, appearing in four consecutive Grand Finals from 2001 to 2004 and winning three premierships ( 2001, 2002, 2003). They play home matches at the Gabba, which was also the site of their offices and training facilities until moving these to Springfield Central Stadium in Ipswich in 2022. Sam Sheldon
Sam Sheldon (born 8 March 1989) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League. Early life Sheldon is of Indigenous Australian heritage and his tribal ancestry can be traced to the Wemba-Wemba. He also grew up in Echuca, where he attended St Joseph's College from year 7 and 8. Matt Austin (born 30 March 1989) is an Australian rules footballer for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). He plays as a midfielder or half forward. Austin was recruited from North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup with the 56th selection in the 2007 AFL Draft. North Ballarat U18
The Greater Western Victoria Rebels is an Australian rules football club which plays in the NAB League, the statewide under-18s competition in Victoria, Australia. Initially known as the Ballarat Rebels and wearing green and gold, the team was established in 1993 as one of four regional under-18s clubs, set up as part of a plan by the AFL Commission to have clubs set in all regions of the state of Victoria. The club became affiliated with the new VFL's North Ballarat Football Club in 1996, and changed its name to North Ballarat Rebels and its colours to black and white to reflect this. In January 2017, the club again changed its name to Greater Western Victoria Rebels to reflect their expanded recruitment zone. Maryborough Football Club
The Maryborough Football & Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Magpies'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Maryborough, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football Netball League. History Maryborough were Ballarat Football League premiers on four occasions from 1924 to 1931 but missed both the 1929 and 1930 seasons as they were without a home ground. The council had decided to allocate Princess Park to the Maryborough District Football Association (MDFA). After returning and winning the 1931 premiership, Maryborough applied to join the Bendigo league and were suspended from the Ballarat league as a result. From 1932 to 1940, a separate club called Maryborough United participated in the Bendigo league. The original club reformed in 1945 and they spent a season in the MDFA before returning to the Ballarat league in 1946. Jed Adcock
Jed Adcock (born 15 November 1985) is a former professional Australian rules footballer and current coach who played for the and in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was co-captain of the Brisbane Lions in 2013 and sole captain in 2014. In 2017 he split with ex-wife Hayley Adcock and is now married to Amber née (Ward) and share a son together Hugo (b. may 2020). Jed shares two children Lily & Edward with ex-wife Hayley. After moving back to Brisbane in 2017 following his separation, he became the assistant midfield coach at the Brisbane Lions and still remains in that position. Oakleigh U18
The Oakleigh Chargers is an Australian rules football club playing in the NAB League, the top statewide under-18 competition in Victoria, Australia. They are based at Warrawee Park in Oakleigh, Victoria, representing the southeastern suburban area of Melbourne. The Chargers were one of two additional metropolitan clubs introduced to the competition in 1995 as part of a plan by the AFL to replace the traditional club zones with independent junior clubs. Luke Power (born 8 January 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions and Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). A member of the Brisbane Lions's 2001, 2002, and 2003 premiership winning teams, he played 282 games for the Lions before moving to Greater Western Sydney where he played his final season. Woodville-West Torrens Football Club
Woodville-West Torrens Football Club is an Australian rules football club playing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). It was formed in 1990 from an amalgamation of the neighbouring Woodville and West Torrens football clubs and played its inaugural game in 1991. Since 1993, the Eagles have played most of their home games at Woodville's home ground of Woodville Oval, having previously used Football Park. Jared Polec (born 12 October 1992) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club, Port Adelaide and Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected with the Brisbane Lions' first selection (pick 5 overall) in the 2010 AFL draft, 2010 national draft from South Australian National Football League, SANFL club, Woodville West Torrens, Woodville-West Torrens.
