Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network which provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. Radio stations broadcast with several different types of modulation: AM radio stations transmit in AM ( amplitude modulation), FM radio stations transmit in FM ( frequency modulation), which are older analog audio standards, while newer digital radio stations transmit in several digital audio standards: DAB ( digital audio broadcasting), HD radio, DRM ( Digital Radio Mondiale). Radio Veronica
Radio Veronica was an offshore radio station that began broadcasting in 1960, and broadcast offshore for over fourteen years. It was set up by independent radio, TV and household electrical retailers in the Netherlands to stimulate the sales of radio receivers by providing an alternative to the Netherlands state-licensed stations in Hilversum. Broadcasts began on 21 April 1960. The station announced itself as VRON (Vrije Radio Omroep Nederland; Free Radio Station f theNetherlands) but changed to Radio Veronica, after the poem "Het Zwarte Schaap Veronica" — The Black Sheep Veronica — by the children's poet Annie M. G. Schmidt. After the station's closure, some of its staff applied for a broadcasting licence and continued as a legal organisation with the same name. Bull Verweij
Hendrik "Bull" Verweij (12 September 1909 – 19 February 2010) was one of the founders of the Dutch offshore radio station Radio Veronica, and was president of the station from its founding in 1959 until 1975. He was born in Hilversum. After Veronica was forced to stop, one of the DJs of the station, , formed the Veronica (TV channel), Veronica Omroep Organisatie: a legal entity that grew out from a candidate broadcasting organisation to the largest broadcaster in the country. The Veronica brothers Bull is one of the three initial brothers that formed together the management (and ownership) of the offshore radio station Veronica. Thorleif Karlsen
Thorleif Oscar Karlsen (17 December 1909 – 31 January 2010) was a Norwegian police inspector and politician, who also became known through the radio program ''Trafikk og musikk''. He was born in Stavanger, to which his parents had moved in the same year. He was hired as a police officer in 1930. He worked in Stavanger from 1930 to 1932, for Statspolitiet in Oslo from 1932 to 1937 and then in Stavanger again from 1938. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was arrested in February 1941 for "anti-German propaganda". He was imprisoned at Møllergata 19 from 26 February to 22 March, then at Ånebyleiren concentration camp until 16 April. He was freed, but was later arrested again during a crackdown on the police ( no, politiaksjonen), and was then imprisoned at Grini concentration camp from March 1943 to January 1944. DWAN-AM
DWAN (1206 AM) was a radio station owned and operated by the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation. History The station was established in 1973 by Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation, a company owned by the late Marcos crony Roberto Benedicto, on 1160 AM under the call letters DWWA. In November 1978, it transferred its frequency to 1206 AM, in response to the adoption of the 9 kHz spacing on AM radio stations in the Philippines under the Geneva Frequency Plan of 1975. In 1984, it changed its call letters to DWAN. When BBC was dissolved after the 1986 EDSA Revolution, ownership of the station was transferred to the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation. By this time, it was located in Broadcast City. In 1996, DWAN returned to air, this time under the management of Bubby Dacer's Asia Pacific News and Features. ''Lørdagsbarnetimen'' ("The Saturday Children's Hour") was a children's radio programme produced by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and broadcast every Saturday – a forced interruption during World War II aside – from 20 December 1924 until 11 September 2010. By the time of its final broadcast it had become the world's longest-running regular weekly radio series. Key Net Radio
was a Japanese Internet radio program produced by VisualArt's and the visual novel studio Key in regard to Key and the games the brand produces. Thirty broadcasts were released online from December 13, 2007, to August 30, 2010. The show was hosted by Shinji Orito and Itaru Hinoue of Key, and another woman named Chiro who works for Pekoe, another visual novel studio under VisualArt's. Guests have been known to appear on the show including Jun Maeda and Na-Ga of Key. Each broadcast was recorded and were available via download on Key's official website after being edited by Orito, though Hinoue filled in for Orito on some occasions. The episodes were available for download on the radio show's official blog for the first nine broadcasts, and the first 27 episodes are no longer available for download.
