2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Men's 60 Metres Hurdles
The men's 60 metres hurdles competition at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships was held at the ASPIRE Dome on 12 and 14 March. The competition was set to be one of the highlights of the competition from the very beginning: it was the first major competition for 2004 Olympic champion Liu Xiang's after a long period out through injury and it was the first time that he, Dayron Robles and Terrence Trammell – the best of their generation – had faced each other since the 2007 World Championships. Only ten athletes were eliminated in the first round in which American hurdlers David Oliver and Trammell ran the fastest times. The majority of athletes gave conservative performances and Ladji Doucouré of France (a former world champion) was the only unexpected elimination, as he suffered an injury at the beginning of heat four. 60 metres hurdles is a distance in hurdling which is generally run in indoor competitions. It is equivalent with the first 5 hurdles of a standard outdoor hurdle race. Outdoor times for track races between 200 meters to 10,000 meters are set on 400-meter unbanked tracks. Indoor marks are established on 200-meter tracks, banked or unbanked. Allen Johnson
Allen Kenneth Johnson (born March 1, 1971) is an American former hurdling athlete who won the gold medal in the 110 metre hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a four-time world champion. Born in Washington, D.C., an all-round athlete, Johnson attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and excelled at high jump, long jump and decathlon as well as hurdles. He was the 1992 NCAA Indoor Champion for 55 meter hurdles but did not win the outdoor championship. IAAF World Indoor Championships In Athletics
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the main World Athletics Championships (outdoors) in the future.
