Individual Individual Championship The 2009 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held at the G&B Stadium in MÃ¥lilla on 25 July. Freddie Eriksson
Freddie Ove Eriksson (born 23 April 1981 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. Career summary Eriksson began his British speedway career in 2001 with King’s Lynn with whom he had two relatively successful seasons scoring over 400 points in 71 appearances. In between he became the Swedish Under-21 Speedway Champion in 2002. In 2003, he joined Ipswich on loan late on in the season and made only 14 appearances. Eriksson’s parent club ( Oxford) recalled him for the end of the 2005 season but at the start of the 2006 season Eriksson was released after only 13 meetings. Eriksson started the 2007 season back at Oxford but once again he was unable to complete a full season in the UK after Oxford were forced to close down their Elite League team at the end of May due to financial problems. Dackarna
Dackarna is a speedway club from MÃ¥lilla in Sweden who compete in the Swedish Elitserien. Their home track is at the Skrotfrag Arena which has been used as the venue for the Grand Prix of Scandinavia since 2005. History The team was founded in May 1935 as MÃ¥lilla Motorklubb and in 1949 renamed itself Dackarna (in honour of Nils Dacke) and the club began league racing. Dackarna raced in the highest level of league racing in Sweden between 1951 and 1965, winning the league championship in 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1956 and 1964. Dackarna switched between the first and second league for the next 30 years until 1997 when the team received the backing of a major new sponsor (Svelux) and were renamed Team Svelux. Svelux were taken over by Luxo in 2002 and the team name was changed to Luxo Stars. In 2006 the sponsorship deal expired and the team name reverted to Dackarna. Vargarna
Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. History The name Vargarna literally translates into English as "The Wolves". The team won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship five times 1949, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1960 and 1961. In recent years the club has moved up and down leagues from the Elitserien to the second tier of Swedish speedway, the Allsvenskan (National League). During the 2022 Swedish Speedway season the club reached the Allsvenskan play off final. Perhaps the club's most notable rider in recent years was the former world champion Nicki Pedersen, who signed for the team in 2010. Västervik Speedway
Västervik Speedway are a motorcycle speedway team from Västervik in Sweden. They were established as Skepparna in 1966 and have raced in the Elitserien, the top league division of Swedish speedway, since 1991, changing their name to Västervik in 1993. They were Elitserien Champions in 2005 and in 2007 they finished runners-up to Dackarna. The team is managed by Peter Helgesson and Marvyn Cox. Elit Vetlanda Speedway
Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien Elitserien (literally, "the Elite League") is the name of several Swedish nationwide sport leagues. Allsvenskan (literally, "The National League") is the second tier in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises seven Swedish speedway teams. Until the introduction of the Elitserien in 1982 the Allsvenskan was the highest level of Swedish Speedway. Lejonen
Lejonen (the Lions) is a motorcycle speedway club from Gislaved in Sweden, who compete in the Elitserien. Their home track is at the OnePartnerGroup Arena which is Sweden's oldest track still in use. The club are two times champions of Sweden. History In December 1929 Gislaved Motorclub was formed and by 1931 the track was built. The track was originally wide and long but in 1936 it was widened to and during the 1980s the inside edge of the track was moved and the length was reduced to . In 1963 the Lejonen team began racing in Division Three and became the champions in 1965. Lejonen finished at the top of Division Two (the Allsvenskan) in 2007 and defeated Valsarna in the play-off final to gain promotion to the Elitserien for 2008. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway.
