2009 Swedish Open
The 2009 Collector Swedish Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 1st edition of the Collector Swedish Open. It took place in Båstad, Sweden, from 6 July through 11 July 2009 for the women and from 13 July through 19 July 2009 for the men. Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. Sandra Roma
Sandra Roma (born 31 March 1990) is a former tennis player from Sweden. In her career, she won three singles titles and five doubles titles on the ITF circuit. On 15 April 2013, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 431. On 16 November 2009, she peaked at No. 416 in the doubles rankings. Career Roma reached a career-high ranking in juniors of 11 in September 2008. Alongside Nikola Hofmanova, she reached the semifinals of the doubles draw of the Wimbledon Championships in 2007. Johanna Larsson (; born 17 August 1988) is a Swedish former tennis player. She won two singles and 14 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, as well as 13 singles and 17 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. Her career-high WTA rankings are No. 45 in singles, achieved in September 2016, and No. 20 in doubles, set on 30 October 2017. A wild card (also wildcard or wild-card and also known as an at-large berth or at-large bid) is a tournament or playoff berth awarded to an individual or team that fails to qualify in the normal way; for example, by having a high ranking or winning a qualifying stage.
