2009 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2009 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the 12th edition of the EuroHockey Nations Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands from 22 to 30 August 2009. England won the tournament for the first time after defeating Germany 5–3 in the final. The hosts and defending champions the Netherlands secured third place after defeating Spain 6–1 in the third-place playoff. Qualified teams Results ''All times are local, CEST (UTC+2).'' Richard Mantell
Richard Mantell (born 17 August 1981) is an English field hockey defender. He is the older brother of Simon Mantell. Mantell made his international debut on 10 February 2003. He was a member of the England squad that competed at the 2006 and 2010 Hockey World Cup. He was also part of the winning squad at the 2009 EuroHockey Championship and came third in 2011, and also competed in the Champions Trophy in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Christopher Zeller (born 14 September 1984) is a German national representative field hockey player. As of 2008, his current club is Rot-Weiss Köln. Oskar Deecke
Oskar Deecke (born 16 May 1986 in Hamburg) is a German field hockey player. Early life Deecke attended the Gelehrtenschule des Johanneums until 2005. Sporting career Oskar Deecke started his national career with German club Club an der Alster in Hamburg, Germany. He scored his first goal in the German Field Hockey National League in 2003, just a few days before his 17th birthday. In 2006 he joined German club Crefelder HTC in Krefeld, Germany. Moritz Fürste
Moritz Fürste (born 28 October 1984) is a German field hockey player. He was a member of the Men's National Team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics as well as at the 2006 World Cup. He played at the Uhlenhorster Hockey Club in Hamburg from 1989 till 2012. He was captain of the team. He has guided his team to success in the Euro Hockey League on three occasions, winning the title in 2007–08, 2009–10 and 2011–12. James Tindall
James Tindall (born 22 April 1983) is a former English international field hockey player. Tindall is from Virginia Water, Surrey. He was part of the England and Great Britain from January 2005 until the end of 2012. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Infamously, he was given a yellow card in the 1–1 draw against Canada at the 2008 Olympics by flipping his opponent over his head. Barry Middleton
Barry John Middleton (born 12 January 1984) is regarded as one of the greatest British field hockey players in history. He played as a midfielder and forward for England and Great Britain and is the most capped British hockey player in history and captained his country for many years. Ashley Steven Jackson (born 27 August 1987) is an English field hockey player who plays club hockey as a defender or midfielder for Old Georgians'. He represented the England and Great Britain national teams from 2006 until 2021.
