2007–08 San Jose Sharks Season
The 2007–08 San Jose Sharks season began on October 4, 2007. It was the San Jose Sharks' 17th season in the National Hockey League. The Sharks were the Pacific Division champions, and second in the Western Conference. They finished the season with a 49–23–10 record. Preseason During the pre-season, the 2007 NHL Entry Draft took place in Columbus, Ohio, on June 22–23. Regular season The Sharks began a win streak of road games on November 14, 2007, when they beat the Dallas Stars with a shootout win. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference (french: Conférence de l'Ouest) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The Nashville Predators (commonly referred to as the Preds) are a professional ice hockey team based in Nashville, Tennessee. Jonathan Cheechoo
Jonathan Cheechoo (; Cree: ; born July 15, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). During the 2005–06 season, he led the NHL with 56 goals and won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy. He was the first San Jose Sharks player to win the "Rocket" Richard Trophy, awarded to the NHL player with the most goals in a season. Thomas Greiss
Thomas Greiss (born 29 January 1986) is a German professional ice hockey goaltender for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). Selected 94th overall in the third round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks, he has also played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders and Detroit Red Wings during his NHL career.
