2006–07 QMJHL Season
The 2006–07 QMJHL season was the 38th season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The regular season ran from September 14, 2006 to March 18, 2007. Eighteen teams played 70 games each in the schedule. The Lewiston Maineiacs finished first overall in the regular season winning their first Jean Rougeau Trophy. Lewiston won 16 playoff games, losing only one, en route to their first President's Cup, defeating the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the finals. Season (sports)
In an organized sports league, a typical season is the portion of one year in which regulated games of the sport are in session: for example, in Major League Baseball the season lasts approximately from the last week of March to the last week of September. In other team sports, like association football or basketball, it is generally from August or September to May although in some countries - such as Northern Europe or East Asia - the season starts in the spring and finishes in autumn, mainly due to weather conditions encountered during the winter. A year can often be broken up into several distinct sections (sometimes themselves called seasons). Moncton Wildcats
The Moncton Wildcats are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The franchise was granted for the 1995–96 season, known as the Moncton Alpines for one season, and as the Wildcats since. The team played at the Moncton Coliseum from 1995 until 2018, and moved into the Avenir Centre for the 2018–19 season. After winning the 2005–06 QMJHL championship, the team hosted the 2006 Memorial Cup. The Wildcats also won the 2009–10 QMJHL championship, which sent the team to compete in the 2010 Memorial Cup in Brandon, Manitoba. They were eliminated from contention after going winless in the round robin portion of the tournament. Jérôme Samson
Jérôme Samson (born September 4, 1987) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Carolina Hurricanes. Playing career Undrafted, Samson was signed by the Carolina Hurricanes on July 2, 2007. During the 2009–10 season, Samson made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes and assisted on a Rod Brind'Amour goal on his first shift against the Nashville Predators on January 7, 2010. He scored his first NHL goal on January 10, 2012 against Sergei Bobrovsky of the Philadelphia Flyers. On July 5, 2013, Samson left the Hurricanes organization as a free agent and signed a one-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets. Morten Madsen
Morten Madsen (born 16 January 1987) is a Danish former professional ice hockey forward who played most notably in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career Morten Madsen was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the 4th round, 122nd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. After being drafted, Madsen joined the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL for the 2006–07 season. In his lone season in the QMJHL, he registered 32 goals and 68 assists for 100 points in 62 games. In six playoff games with the Tigres, he scored three goals and added six assists in six games. Before entering the QMJHL, he played for Frölunda HC's junior team in Sweden. Before moving to Sweden, he played junior hockey for Danish Rødovre Mighty Bulls as well as two games for Rødovre's senior team at the age of 15. Benoît Doucet
Benoit Doucet (born April 23, 1963) is a Canadian-German ice hockey coach and a former professional player. He spent most of his professional playing career in Germany and represented the German Men's National Team at the 1994 and 1998 Olympic Games and three World Championships. He is currently the head coach of EV Moosburg in Germany. Playing career Doucet played for the Hull Olympiques in the junior league QMJHL alongside John Chabot and Sylvain Turgeon and then spent the 1984-85 season at the Université de Moncton. He went undrafted, but was invited to the Calgary Flames training camp in 1985 and made 79 AHL appearances for Calgary's affiliate Moncton Golden Flames in the 1985-86 season. David Desharnais
David Kevin Denis Desharnais (born September 14, 1986) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre currently playing for HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the National League (NL). Undrafted, he originally signed as a free agent with the Montreal Canadiens in 2008. Claude Giroux
Claude Giroux (; born January 12, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Florida Panthers. Selected by the Flyers 22nd overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Giroux was named the Flyers' team captain in 2013, and became the longest-tenured captain in team history. Mathieu Perreault (born January 5, 1988) is a Canadian former ice hockey winger. He played for the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League (NHL), and for HIFK of the SM-liiga (SM-l). Thomas Beauregard (born February 9, 1986) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Sorel-Tracy Hawks of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH). François Bouchard (born April 26, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Les Pétroliers du Nord in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH). He is the younger brother of Pierre-Marc Bouchard who also played in the NHL.
