François Bouchard (ice Hockey, Born 1988)
François Bouchard (born April 26, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Les Pétroliers du Nord in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH). He is the younger brother of Pierre-Marc Bouchard who also played in the NHL. Playing career Bouchard was drafted in the second round, 35th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. During the 2006–07 QMJHL season, Bouchard led the league in points with 125 for Baie-Comeau Drakkar. On July 15, 2011, Bouchard signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals. In the preceding 2011–12 season, on November 8, 2011, Bouchard was traded to the New York Rangers in exchange for Tomas Kundratek. Connecticut Whale (AHL)
The Hartford Wolf Pack are a professional ice hockey team based in Hartford, Connecticut. A member of the American Hockey League (AHL), they play their home games at the XL Center. The team was established in 1926 as the Providence Reds. After a series of relocations, the team moved to Hartford in 1997 as the Hartford Wolf Pack. It is one of the oldest professional hockey franchises in existence, and the oldest continuously operating minor league hockey franchise in North America. The franchise was renamed the Connecticut Whale in October 2010, in honor of the former Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League (NHL), but reverted to their current name after the 2012–13 AHL season. 2006 NHL Entry Draft
The 2006 NHL Entry Draft was the 44th NHL Entry Draft. It was held at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 24, 2006. The draft order for the first 14 picks was decided during a lottery held on April 20, 2006. The draft was televised in Canada on TSN and RDS, with the first three hours simulcasted in the United States on OLN. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team.
