2006–07 Pakistan Premier League
The 2006–07 Pakistan Premier League season was the 3rd season since the inception of Pakistan Premier League and 52nd season of Pakistan domestic football. The football season was moved from the summer to the winter months. Pakistan Army ended the season as league champions, successfully defending the title and winning their second title in three years. Pakistan Army keeper Jaffar Khan set a new Pakistani record by remaining unbeaten for 1,260 minutes. Pakistan Army only conceding 3 goals is a new record. Pakistan Army represented Pakistan at the 2007 AFC President's Cup by virtue of being the national champions. The AFC President's Cup 2007 will be staged in Lahore. The Pakistan Premier League (PPL; ur, پاکستان پریمیئر لیگ) is a Pakistani professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Pakistan football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Football Federation League. Since inception of the Pakistan Premier League in 2004, four clubs have won the title: Khan Research Laboratories (5) WAPDA (4), Pakistan Army (2) and K-Electric (1). Punjab Stadium
The Punjab Stadium is a football stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. It was nicknamed the "Ian Rush Stadium" after the Liverpool striker visited Pakistan to promote grassroots football in the country. Muhammad Essa was the first man to score an international goal at this venue. Real Lahore, WAPDA FC and Wohaib FC use the venue for association football matches. Railway Stadium is a football stadium in Lahore, Pakistan and is the home of the Pakistan Railways FC. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000. The Shoaib Akhtar Stadium, formerly known as Khan Research Laboratories Ground, is a multi-use stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
