2005 Faroe Islands Premier League
The Faroe Islands Premier League 2005 season was the 63rd season of league football in the Faroe Islands. Because of a sponsorship deal with IT company ''Formula'', the league was renamed ''Formuladeildin'' (Formula Division). The season was close throughout at the top of league, with HB, B36 and Skála each vying for a place at the top of league. This continued until the end of the season and there was a close finish. HB beat KÍ 2–1 to set up a last day finale against B36. If HB won, they would become champions. If B36 won, they would become champions. If the match finished in a draw, then Skála would become champions if they beat GÍ Gøta at home. In the decisive match, HB took the lead just before half-time. But after the break HB threw away their lead 20 minutes into the second half after a defensive mistake and Allan Mørkøre equalized for B36. Meanwhile, Skála ÍF were 1–0 up against GÍ Gøta. The Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as ''Betri deildin menn'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1942 as Meistaradeildin, and it is played in current format since 2005, when Premier League replaced 1. deild as the country's top football division. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It is contested by 10 clubs. At the end of every season, two teams are relegated and two promoted from 1. deild. All teams in the league have semi-professional status. As of April 2022, the Faroe Islands Premier League is ranked 44th out of 55 leagues in the UEFA coefficient. 2006 Faroe Islands Premier League
Faroe Islands Premier League Football in the 2006 season. EB/Streymur were top of the league throughout most of the season, with HB Tórshavn, B36 Tórshavn and NSÍ Runavík staying in contention. With 4 matches left to play, EB/Streymur were 7 points ahead of second placed HB, but after 1 draw and 1 loss for EB/Streymur, HB managed to reduce that lead by 2 points by winning twice. By this time B36, KÍ and NSÍ were out of the title race. With one match left to play, HB Tórshavn's only chance of securing the title was if EB/Streymur lost to KÍ Klaksvík. In addition to that, HB had to win their match against ÍF. But as both matches were locked in stalemates and time was ebbing out, EB/Streymur were on the way to winning the title. Heðin á Lakjuni (born 19 February 1978) is a former Faroese international footballer, who played as a full-back and a winger for four Faroese clubs in the top tier. Lakjuni started his career with KÍ Klaksvík and had spells with B36 Tórshavn, HB Tórshavn, and NSÍ Runavík. He has won the Faroe Islands Premier League 3 times, and the Faroe Islands Cup 4 times. Súni Olsen (born 7 March 1981) is a Faroese former professional football midfielder. Club career He started his career at Faroese club GÍ Gøta, after a successful season in 2000, in which he scored 13 league goals, moved to Dutch side FC Zwolle in 2001, becoming the second Faroese international to play in the Netherlands after Jan Allan Müller played for Go Ahead Eagles in 1990/1991. Hans á Lag (born 26 September 1974) is a Faroe Islands, Faroese former sportsman. He is a former football player, former badminton player and former handball player. Hon won the Faroese championship in the men's badminton two times in 1993 and 1994 and the Faroese championship in the Faroe Islands Premier League six times.
