Ugandan Super League
The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The league's roots date back to 1968 when the National First Division League was established. History Original concept The genesis of club football in Uganda was an idea copied from England by Balamaze Lwanga and Polycarp Kakooza. The objective was to improve Uganda's performances in the Africa Cup of Nations after disappointing results in the finals in 1962 (fourth-place finish) and 1968 (lost all three group stage matches), both held in Ethiopia. SC Villa
Sports Club Villa is an association football club based in Uganda. Overview SC Villa had humble beginnings in 1975, playing under the name Nakivubo Boys. The club was renamed Nakivubo Villa in 1981. SC Villa won promotion to the top flight of Ugandan football in 1979 and is the most successful club in Ugandan football. They have won 16 Uganda Super League Titles, 9 Ugandan Cup Titles and 3 CECAFA Clubs Cup Titles. SC Villa was the first Ugandan club to clinch a local double in 1986. That record was extended to six "Doubles" in 2002. Uganda Revenue Authority SC
Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club is a Ugandan football team based in Kampala. The club plays in the Ugandan Premier League and was founded in 1997. They have won the Ugandan Premier League four times and the Uganda Cup three times. History URA merged with Lyantonde FC in 2001. URA had been excluded from the Western League. Lyantonde, cup finalists in 2000, did not raise enough money to continue playing in the Buganda Super mini-league. The parties agreed URA would pay the registration fee and take over Lyantonde's place in the league. After promotion, the team took the URA name and began play in the Buganda mini-league. Robert Ssentongo (born 5 June 1988) is an Ugandan international footballer who plays for Kyetume FC, as a striker. Club career Born in Kampala, Ssentongo has played club football for Simba, SC Villa, Kampala City Council, Brabrand, African Lyon, URA, Saint George, Fasil Kenema, and Kyetume FC. Simba FC
Simba is a fictional character and the protagonist of Disney's ''The Lion King'' franchise. The 2005 Ugandan Super League was the 38th season of the official Ugandan football championship, the top-level football league of Uganda. Overview The 2005 Uganda Super League used a different format with 15 teams divided into 3 groups with 8 qualifying teams then progressing to the knock-out phase. The championship playoff was won by Police FC who defeated SC Villa 3-1 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the final at Namboole Stadium. Those teams that failed to qualify for the knock-out phase entered a relegation pool but some teams failed to complete their league fixtures. Express Football Club, abbreviated as Express, is a Ugandan football club from Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. The club play their home games at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium. History Express FC is popularly referred to by the club fans as the Red Eagles and has also been known as the Express Sports Club. Police FC (Uganda)
Police FC is a football club from Kampala in Uganda. History They have won their first Ugandan league title in 2005 and the CECAFA Clubs Cup in 2006. Police was spurred on in the early years by Dennis Obua as a player and later as coach. During Obua's years, he managed to stage youthful players who have blossomed into really great talent. When Obua became the Federation of Uganda Football Association president, he hired Steven Mulinde to step in his shoes.
