2002 Oregon State Beavers Football Team
The 2002 Oregon State Beavers football team represented Oregon State University in the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) during the 2002 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Dennis Erickson, the Beavers compiled a 8–4 regular season record (4–4 in Pac-10, tied for fourth), but lost the Insight Bowl to the Pittsburgh Panthers in Phoenix on December 26. After the season in February, Erickson left for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, and previous head coach Mike Riley was rehired. Dennis Erickson
Dennis Brian Erickson (born March 24, 1947) is an American football coach who most recently served as the head coach for the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football league. He was also the head coach at the University of Idaho (1982–1985, 2006), the University of Wyoming (1986), Washington State University (1987–1988), the University of Miami (1989–1994), Oregon State University (1999–2002), and Arizona State University (2007–2011). During his tenure at Miami, Erickson's teams won two College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS, national championships, in 1989 Miami Hurricanes football team, 1989 and 1991 Miami Hurricanes football team, 1991. The 2002 California Golden Bears football team was an American football team that represented the University of California, Berkeley in the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) during the 2002 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their first year under head coach Jeff Tedford, the Golden Bears compiled a 7–5 record (4–4 against Pac-10 opponents), finished in a tie for fourth place in the Pac-10, and outscored their opponents by a combined score of 427 to 318. The team's statistical leaders included Kyle Boller with 2,815 passing yards, Joe Igber with 1,130 rushing yards, and Lashaun Ward with 709 receiving yards. Fox Sports Networks (FSN), formerly known as Fox Sports Net, was the collective name for a group of regional sports channels in the United States.
