2001 Norwegian Third Division
The 2001 season of the ''3. divisjon'', the fourth highest association football league for men in Norway. Between 18 and 24 games (depending on group size) were played in 24 groups, with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Twelve teams were promoted to the 2. divisjon through playoff. Association Football
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. With an estimated 250 million players active in over 200 countries, it is considered the world's most popular sport. is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Hedemarken. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Brumunddal. Grue Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Grue, founded in 1906. It has sections for association football, team handball, athletics, orienteering, sport shooting and Nordic skiing. Football The men's football team currently play in the 5. divisjon, the sixth tier of Norwegian football. The team played in the 3. divisjon from 2014, the fourth tier of Norwegian football. The team last played on this tier in 2007. Before that long Third Division stint, Grue played in the 2. divisjon until 1994. In 1976 and 1977 the team even played on the second tier. Norwegian reserve football teams compete at all levels of league football within the Norwegian football league system apart from the top two divisions, Eliteserien and 1. divisjon. The highest league these teams can currently enter is the 2. divisjon, set at the third tier of the league system. The reserve teams are attached to their first teams with a "2" suffix and must play in a lower league than the first team. Furthermore, if a club's first team plays in the 1. divisjon, the reserves team cannot play in the 2. divisjon either. If a reserve team ends up at a promotion spot when it is not allowed to be promoted, the promotion is awarded to best following team in the league standings which is allowed to be promoted. Also, a reserve team is forcefully relegated, regardless of the final league position, if it is no longer qualified for playing at that level - i.e. if the first team is relegated to a league level where the reserve team's level is no longer allowed. Brumunddal Fotball
Brumunddal Fotball is the football section of the Norwegian alliance sports club Brumunddal IL, located in Brumunddal, Hedmark. The organizational independency of the football section dates from 2003, although its parent club was founded in 1895. The men's football team currently plays in the 3. divisjon, the fourth tier of Norwegian football. History The team played in the Third Division, but after being relegated in 1995 it languished in the Fourth Division. Its return to the Third Division in 1998 also became short-lived. The team then had a longer stint from 2001 to 2004, when Strømmen IF was beaten in the playoffs, securing promotion to the 2005 Norwegian Second Division. The team had lost similar playoffs in 2003 and 2002. Brumunddal was instantly relegated to the Third Division again, but won the 2009 playoffs and has since played in the Second Division again.
