Faroe Islands Premier League Football
The Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as ''Betri deildin menn'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1942 as Meistaradeildin, and it is played in current format since 2005, when Premier League replaced 1. deild as the country's top football division. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It is contested by 10 clubs. At the end of every season, two teams are relegated and two promoted from 1. deild. All teams in the league have semi-professional status. As of April 2022, the Faroe Islands Premier League is ranked 44th out of 55 leagues in the UEFA coefficient. B71 Sandoy
B71 (Sandoy) (B71 being short for Bóltfelagið 1971 – literal translation: "Ball Club 1971") is a Faroese sports club, playing their home games '' Inni í Dal'', Sandur. Teams are made up of players from all the towns on the island of Sandoy. Current squad The Club history Origins (1970–1971) Although B71 is one of the youngest football-teams in the Faroe Islands, there has always been a considerable amount of interest in sports on the particular island from which the team fares. Sorin Vasile Anghel (born 16 July 1979) is a Romanian football manager and former footballer. Biography Anghel moved from Romania to the Faroe Islands at the age of twenty-one. Anghel played for Faroese side EB/Streymur, helping the club win the league. Kurt Mørkøre
Kurt Mørkøre (born 20 February 1969) is a former Faroese football midfielder or striker who is currently manager of the Norwegian club Averøykameratene. He is the elder brother of fellow Faroese international Allan Mørkøre. He is a baker by profession. Krzysztof Popczyński (born 8 March 1969) is a Polish football coach and former player. As a player, he played as a midfielder. Career Playing career Born in Kraków, Popczyński played for a number of Polish as well as international clubs during his active career. Fróði Benjaminsen (born 14 December 1977) is a Faroese international footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder for Skála ÍF. Benjaminsen previously played for HB Tórshavn, B68 Toftir, Fram Reykjavík and B36 Tórshavn. He has appeared a record number of times for the Faroe Islands, and captained the national team since 2008. In 2015, he retired from the national team, but continued to play for HB Tórshavn in 2016. John Petersen (footballer)
John Petersen (born 22 April 1972) is a retired Faroese football striker and the current manager for the Faroe Islands women's national football team. Club career A prolific striker, Petersen has won Faroese league winner medals with GÍ Gøta and B36 Tórshavn. He then moved to play with compatriots Jens Martin Knudsen, Sámal Joensen and Jens Erik Rasmussen at Leiftur in the Icelandic league only to return to the Faroe Islands after a disappointing season in which the team relegated.
