The 2000 Armenian Cup was the ninth edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 2000, the tournament had 16 participants, out of which only 1 was a reserve team. Araks Ararat FC
Araks Ararat FC ( hy, Արաքս Արարատ Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ), is a defunct Armenian football club from the town of Ararat, Ararat Province. Club history The club was founded in 1960 as FC Ararat to represent the town of Ararat. With the independence of Armenia, the Ararat Cement Factory took over FC Ararat in 1993 and the club was renamed FC Tsement Ararat. They played in the Armenian Premier League and won two titles, the first in 1998 as Tsement and the 2nd in 2000 as Araks Ararat. The following year, Tsement yielded the championship to FC Shirak by two points and ended up on the third spot behind FC Ararat Yerevan. However, after many successful years, the club president ''Abraham Babayan'' was unable to finance the club. Eventually, the rights were sold in late 2000 to a new sponsor based in Yerevan and Araks Ararat FC was dissolved. The club was founded in 1927 in Soviet Azerbaijan and its current name translates from Armenian as "''Mountainous Artsakh''". History The club was founded in 1927 under the name ''Dinamo Stepanakert''. In 1960, the name was changed to ''Karabakh'' and remained by that name until 1989 when it was renamed ''Artsakh''. During the years between 1992 and 1995 they were unable to participate in any competition due to the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Abovyan or Abovian ( hy, Աբովյան), is a town and urban municipal community in Armenia within the Kotayk Province. It is located northeast of Yerevan and southeast of the province centre Hrazdan. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town is 43,495, down from 59,000 reported at the 1989 census. Currently, the town has an approximate population of 44,900 as per the 2020 official estimate. Abovyan City Stadium ( hy, Աբովյանի Քաղաքային Մարզադաշտ) is an all-seater stadium, all-seater association football, football stadium in Abovyan, Armenia. Overview Abovyan City Stadium was opened in 1966 and currently holds a capacity of 3,100 seats. The stadium which was known as Kotayk Stadium until 2006, used to have a capacity of 5,500 spectators. In 2006, the venue was turned into an all-seater stadium, thus reducing the capacity down to 3,946 seats (2,498 at the eastern stand and 1,448 at the western stand). The stadium was renamed Abovyan City Stadium during the same year. Major renovation works were executed in 2021-22. FC Armenicum ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Արմենիկում), is a defunct Armenian football club from Yerevan. It was founded in 2000 and won the Armenian First League during the same year, gaining promotion to the Armenian Premier League for the 2001 season. However, in 2001, Armenicum was absorbed by FC Pyunik who replaced them in the premier league competition automatically. Hence, Armenicum was dissolved in 2001 and retired from professional football. FC Lernagorts Kapan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Լեռնագործ Կապան), is a defunct Armenian football club from Kapan, Syunik Province. History Lernagorts Kapan was founded in 1963 during the Soviet period. After the independence of Armenia, the club participated in the first Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union under the name Syunik Kapan. After the regular competition, they qualified for the championship stage, where they finished in 6th position, thus being qualified for the highest level in the 1993 season. However, they withdrew before the start of the season. Since then they have been up and down between the two divisions of the Armenian football league system.
