2000 African Cup Of Nations
The 2000 African Cup of Nations was the 22nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the association football championship of Africa ( CAF). It was co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria, who jointly replaced Zimbabwe as host. Just like in 1998, the field of sixteen teams was split into four groups of four. Cameroon won the championship, beating Nigeria in the final 4–3 on penalties. As winners, they qualified for the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup as African representatives. Host Selection It was expected that Zimbabwe will host this edition but it was sidelined by the CAF on 8 February 1999 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast for non-compliance with the specifications, the CAF announced that they would be receiving applications for the new hosts until 10 March 1999. Fabrice Alcebiades Maieco (born 30 May 1977 in Benguela), commonly known as Akwá, is an Angolan former association football, football player who played as a Forward (association football), forward for the Angola national football team, Angolan national team. From his international debut in 1995, Akwá represented Angola 78 times, scoring a record 39 goals. He played for them in three Africa Cup of Nations and captained the side at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Hisseine Abana (born 25 June 1983) is a former Chadian professional football player. He made 15 appearances for the Chad national football team. Career Abana started his career in Chadian club Renaissance. He later moved to France, and played for FC Petit Bard in Montpellier. Abana made his first appearance for the Chad on 25 September 1997, in a match against Bahrain, in a friendly international football tournament held in Tripoli, Libya. Estádio Da Várzea
Estádio da Várzea is a multi-purpose stadium in Praia, Cape Verde just west of the city center's plateau in the subdivision of Várzea and on Avenida Cidade de Lisboa on its east side. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 8,000 people. The stadium is owned by the city of Praia and is operated by the Santiago South Regional Football Association and serves its headquarters of the association. The other stadium operated by the association in the south of the island is Calabaceira. The entrance is on the west side of the stadium where most of the seat is. The stadium has seat rows in the left and right sides, 200 meters east is the Plateau of Praia. Its size is 108 by 69 m, the longest part of the field goes north to south with a 15 degree angle facing east at the top. Its elevation is about 4 meters above sea level. Yaya Mamadou Dissa (born 18 September 1975) is a Malian international footballer who last played for Division d'Honneur side Niort Saint-Florent.
