2nd Satellite Tracking Group
The United States Air Force's 750th Space Group was a space operations unit located at Onizuka Air Force Station, California. its predecessor was formed on 1 October 1987; it assumed the designation of the 750th Space Group on 30 January 1992; and it was inactivated on 25 June 1999. History The 750 SG inactivated in June 1999, following the recommendation of the 1995 Base Realignment and Closure Commission. Primary responsibilities for the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) mission transferred to the 22d Space Operations Squadron, 50th Operations Group, 50th Space Wing, Schriever AFB, Colorado and Air Force support to Space Shuttle missions transferred to the 21st Space Operations Squadron, 50th Operations Group, 50th Space Wing, which stood up at Onizuka AFS. That squadron also provided a necessary backup for AFSCN operations. Defense Satellite Communications System
The Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) is a United States Space Force satellite constellation that provides the United States with military communications to support globally distributed military users. Beginning in 2007, DSCS is being replaced by the Wideband Global SATCOM system. A total of 14 DSCS-III satellites were launched between the early 1980s and 2003. Diego Garcia is an island of the British Indian Ocean Territory, a disputed overseas territory of the United Kingdom. It is a militarised atoll just south of the equator in the central Indian Ocean, and the largest of the 60 small islands of the Chagos Archipelago. New Boston Space Force Station (BOSS) is a United States Space Force facility located in Hillsborough County in south central New Hampshire. It was transferred from the United States Air Force to the Space Force in the summer of 2020. The installation occupies more than in three towns: New Boston, Amherst, and Mont Vernon. It was originally established in 1942 as a practice area for bombers and fighter planes from nearby Grenier Army Air Field (now Manchester–Boston Regional Airport).
