Dreamworld Express
The Dreamworld Express is a narrow gauge railway located at the Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia. History The Dreamworld Express opened with Dreamworld on 15 December 1981, as the ''Cannonball Express''. At the time, the railway only featured a single stop in Main Street. A steam locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1917 was purchased and of track was said to have been laid to develop the ride. This figure must relate to the quantity of rail used as reference to maps show that the line is only about in length. The Baldwin locomotive was originally used during the First World War in France before being relocated to Queensland for use on the cane fields. The Ida Bay Railway is a , narrow gauge heritage railway. Located south of Hobart, Tasmania, it is the most southerly railway in Australia. Kilrie is a railway locomotive, built in South Australia. Built by Perry Engineering of Gawler (S/N 265) in November 1924 this tiny locomotive was one of twelve similar units purchased by the State Rivers & Water Supply Commission of Victoria for use on the construction of the Hume Weir on the Murray River near Albury. Its driving wheels are 28.5 inch (724mm) diameter. These are driven by a boiler working at 150 pounds per square inch and two 10 inch (254mm) diameter by 24 inch (610mm) stroke cylinders actuated by Walschaerts valve gear. After use at the Hume Reservoir from 1925 to 1935, it was placed in storage until sold to the Pioneer Sugar Mill near Brandon, Queensland. It was converted from a 0-4-0T to its present 0-4-2T configuration during 1960 and at the same time converted to burn oil. Stannary Hills Tramways are a heritage-listed pair of tramways at Irvinebank, Shire of Mareeba, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1901 to 1907. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 25 February 2005. History The Boonmoo-to-Stannary Hills and Stannary Hills-to-Irvinebank tramway formations represent two private tramways constructed between 1901 and 1907 that provided transport for the tin mining fields west of the Atherton Tablelands in north Queensland from their construction until 1936. The tramlines are on a gauge, distinct from the standard 3 ft 6 in gauge used on the Queensland government railway of the time.
