2C (musician)
Romeo Awakanu Mulbah (born 16 May 1987), known professionally as 2C, is a U.S-based Liberian singer and songwriter. He signed a record deal with OuttaSpace Entertainment in 2017 and teamed up with Akon to record "Mr. Mechanic". 2C has won several awards, including Artist of the Year at the 2010 Liberian Entertainment Awards. Early life Romeo Awakanu Mulbah was born on 16 May 1987, in Bong Town, Liberia. When he was 5 years old, his family was displaced as a result of the First Liberian Civil War. They settled briefly in Ivory Coast before relocating to the United States. Music career 2C's interest in music and performing began at an early age. He won several dance competitions while residing in Ivory Coast, and also performed at various music showcases while living in Atlanta. In 2007, 2C teamed up with music producer Jason "Pit" Pittman to record his debut single "Liberia Girl". Bong Town
Bong Town (also known as Bong Mine Community or just Bong) is a populated place in the Bong County of Liberia. The Bong Mining Company was founded by Thyssen (Germany). From its establishment in 1958 through the late 1980s, the Bong Mining Company (BMC), a German-Italian-owned Contractual rights, concession in Liberia built a substantial mining complex to surface mining, surface mine the iron ore of the mountain range just on the north side of the Margibi/Bong county borderline. Notably, the company constructed and maintained one of Liberia's main rail lines to the remote site to ship the iron ore from the mountains. The town has one government secondary school. Afrobeats
Afrobeats (not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing), or Afro-pop or Afro-fusion (or Afropop or Afrofusion), is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the 'Afrobeats' umbrella. Afrobeats is primarily produced in Lagos, Accra, and London. First Liberian Civil War
The First Liberian Civil War lasted from 1989 to 1997. President Samuel Doe had established a regime in 1980 but totalitarianism and corruption led to unpopularity and the withdrawal of support from the United States by the late 1980s. The National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) led by Charles Taylor invaded Liberia from the Ivory Coast to overthrow Doe in December 1989 and gained control over most of the country within a year. Doe was captured and executed by the Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia (INPFL), a splinter faction of the NPFL led by Prince Johnson, in September 1990. The NPFL and INPFL fought each other for control of the capital Monrovia and against the Armed Forces of Liberia and pro-Doe United Liberation Movement of Liberia for Democracy. Ruff n Smooth is a Ghanaian-based music group made up of Ruff/Bullet (Musician), Bullet (Ricky Nana Agyemang) & Smooth/Ahkan (Clement Baah Foh). Although both have been on the music scene for a while, it was not till they formed an alliance that they both gained prominence.
