The 25th Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan was in power from 2003 until November 20, 2007. It was controlled by the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party under premier Lorne Calvert. Members By-elections # The member for Weyburn-Big Muddy, Brenda Bakken-Lackey, resigned in February 2006. On May 19, 2006, Premier Lorne Calvert called a by-election for June 19, 2006. The by-election was won by Dustin Duncan of the Saskatchewan Party. # The member for Martensville, Ben Heppner, died on September 24, 2006. A by-election was held on March 5, 2007. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Athabasca (Saskatchewan Electoral District)
Athabasca is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located in the extreme northwest corner of the province. The major industries are tourism, mineral extraction, forestry, commercial fishing and trapping. The Cluff Lake uranium mine is located in this constituency, as well as the Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park and the Clearwater River Provincial Park. The major communities are La Loche, Île-à-la-Crosse and Buffalo Narrows with populations of 2,136, 1,268 and 1,137 respectively. The district was most recently contested in the 2020 general election, during which incumbent NDP MLA Buckley Belanger was re-elected, but a by-election is scheduled for February 15, 2022 to replace Belanger who resigned to run (unsuccessfully) for the Liberal Party of Canada in the riding of Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River during the 2021 Canadian federal election. Eric Cline
Eric H. Cline (born August 12, 1955) is a former Canadians, Canadian politician. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as the New Democratic Party of Saskatchewan, New Democratic Party (NDP) Member of the Legislative Assembly for Saskatoon Centre, Saskatoon Idylwyld from 1991 to 1995, Saskatoon Mount Royal from 1995 to 2003, and Saskatoon Massey Place 2003 to 2007. He was a senior cabinet minister in the governments of Roy Romanow and Lorne Calvert. Appointed to Cabinet in November 1995, he had responsibility for a number of portfolios including Health, Labour, Finance, Justice, and Industry and Resources. Cut Knife-Turtleford
Cut Knife-Turtleford is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in northwest Saskatchewan, this constituency has an economy based primarily on farming – while oil and gas development is rising. The Battlefords Provincial Park is located here. Michael Chisholm
Michael Chisholm (born August 26, 1948) is a Canadian provincial politician. He was a Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 2003 to 2011, and is also a member of the federal Conservative Party of Canada. In 2003 he was elected for the newly created constituency of Cut Knife-Turtleford, and was re-elected in 2007. He is the vice-chair of the government's public-accounts committee. Ken Cheveldayoff
Ken Cheveldayoff (born April 1, 1965) is a Canadian provincial politician. He is the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Saskatoon Willowgrove. In 2018 he was a candidate for the leadership of the Saskatchewan Party. Early life and education Cheveldayoff holds a B.A. (Honours) in Economics and Political Science (1988) and a Masters of Business Administration (1996). He was a parliamentary page in the House of Commons and won the Queen Elizabeth II scholarship for excellence in Parliamentary Studies. Career Prior to being elected to public office, Cheveldayoff worked with Western Economic Diversification as a senior business advisor. Saskatoon Riversdale
Saskatoon Riversdale is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It was held by two Premiers of Saskatchewan from 1991 to 2007 – Roy Romanow and Lorne Calvert. It is currently represented by Marv Friesen of the Saskatchewan Party. The constituency was one of five created for the city of Saskatoon when the former multi-member constituency of Saskatoon City was abolished prior to the 1967 general election. Of those five ridings, Saskatoon Riversdale is the only one to have existed continuously without renaming. Arm River-Watrous was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. This constituency was located in south central Saskatchewan. It was dissolved as part of an election boundary redraw in 2013 primarily into Arm River. Grain farming and cattle ranching are the major economic activities of the area. Wynyard is home to the larger industries in this constituency. They include: Sunnyland Poultry Products, Big Quill Resources (Canada's largest manufacturer of potassium sulphate), and Cargill.
