Saskatoon Silver Springs was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. The district included the neighbourhoods of Silverspring, Forest Grove, Evergreen, Willowgrove, Erindale and Arbor Creek. This constituency was created by the ''Representation Act, 2002'' (Saskatchewan) out of portions of the Saskatoon Meewasin and Saskatoon Sutherland ridings. It was dissolved by the ''Representation Act, 2013'' (Saskatchewan) into Saskatoon Silverspring-Sutherland and Saskatoon Willowgrove. Saskatoon Meewasin is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. The district includes the neighbourhoods of River Heights, Richmond Heights, City Park, North Park, and Kelsey-Woodlawn. As of the Canada 2016 Census, the population of the riding was 15,135. Created for the 16th Saskatchewan general election as "Saskatoon Mayfair" out of part of Saskatoon City, this constituency was redrawn and renamed "Saskatoon River Heights" in 1991. 2007 Saskatchewan General Election
The 2007 Saskatchewan general election was held on November 7, 2007 to determine the composition of the 26th Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party government of Premier Lorne Calvert was defeated by the Saskatchewan Party, led by Brad Wall. It was only the third time in the province's history that a centre-right party had won power. Campaign Lorne Calvert, Premier of Saskatchewan and leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), advised the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan to call an election for November 7, 2007. In the 2003 election, the NDP won 30 of 58 seats to form a majority government. The Saskatchewan Party, then led by Elwin Hermanson, won 28 seats in that election. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. Ken Cheveldayoff
Ken Cheveldayoff (born April 1, 1965) is a Canadian provincial politician. He is the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Saskatoon Willowgrove. In 2018 he was a candidate for the leadership of the Saskatchewan Party. Early life and education Cheveldayoff holds a B.A. (Honours) in Economics and Political Science (1988) and a Masters of Business Administration (1996). He was a parliamentary page in the House of Commons and won the Queen Elizabeth II scholarship for excellence in Parliamentary Studies. Career Prior to being elected to public office, Cheveldayoff worked with Western Economic Diversification as a senior business advisor. 2011 Saskatchewan General Election
The 2011 Saskatchewan general election was held on November 7, 2011, to elect 58 members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan (MLAs). The election was called on October 10 by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, on the advice of Premier Brad Wall. Wall's Saskatchewan Party government was re-elected with an increased majority of 49 seats, the third-largest majority government in the province's history. The opposition New Democratic Party was cut down to only nine ridings, its worst showing in almost 30 years. This was the first Saskatchewan provincial vote to use a fixed election date, set on the first Monday of November every four years.
