23rd Arabian Gulf Cup
The 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, كأس الخليج العربي) was the 23rd edition of the biennial football competition for the eight members of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation. It took place in Kuwait from 22 December 2017 until 5 January 2018. Oman won their second title, defeating the United Arab Emirates in the final on penalties following a goalless draw. This tournament has the fewest goals-per-game average (1.53) in the history of Arabian Gulf Cup tournaments. Hosting The Gulf Cup tournament was originally scheduled to be in 2016. It was delayed to 2017 after Kuwait was suspended by FIFA, and the tournament was moved to Qatar. The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Basra, Iraq, with an official decision set to be made in February 2015. Jamal Rashid Abdulrahman Yusuf ( ar, جمال رشيد عبد الرحمن يوسف; born 7 November 1988), commonly known as Jamal Rashid, is a Bahraini footballer who plays for Al-Muharraq SC in the Bahraini Premier League. Club career Jamal began his professional career in 2005 with Al-Ahli (Manama). He scored six goals in his four-seasons spell at the club. 1979 Gulf Cup Of Nations
The 5th Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, دورة كأس الخليج العربي الخامسة) was the fifth edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The tournament was held at the Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad, Iraq and took place between 23 March and 9 April 1979. Hosts Iraq won their first ever title after defeating Saudi Arabia 2–0 on 8 April 1979, becoming the second team to win the competition after Kuwait. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to take place in 1978 and hosted in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, but it was delayed after the UAE gave up their hosting rights. The Qatar diplomatic crisis was a diplomatic incident in the Middle East that began on 5 June 2017 when Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic relations with Qatar and banned Qatar-registered planes and ships from utilising their airspace and sea routes, along with Saudi Arabia blocking Qatar’s only land crossing. The 10th Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, كأس الخليج العربي) was held in Kuwait, between 21 February to 9 March 1990. All matches were played at Peace & Friendship Stadium. Saudi Arabia withdrew before the tournament, as they considered that the horses in the competition logo were a reference to two animals used by the Kuwaitis in the Battle of Jahra in 1920. 1974 Gulf Cup Of Nations
The 3rd Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, دورة كأس الخليج العربي الثالثة) was the third edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The tournament was held in Kuwait City, Kuwait and was won by two-time defending champions and hosts Kuwait. The tournament took place between 15 and 29 March 1974. All matches were played at the Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium. Oman took part in the competition for the first time. Kuwait defeated Saudi Arabia 4–0 in the final to win their third title in a row. This victory meant that Kuwait had earned the privilege of keeping the trophy permanently. The number of teams was increased from five to six and the format of the competition was changed.
