221st Combat Communications Squadron
The United States Air Force's 221st Combat Communications Squadron (221 CBCS) is an Air National Guard combat communications unit located at Hensley Field, Grand Prairie, Texas. Mission Deploy, operate, and sustain command, control, communications and computer systems (C4) and support capabilities for Air Force and joint military operations under bare-base conditions. Promote public safety for the citizens of the State of Texas and to respond to state and local emergencies. History The 221st Combat Communications Squadron was originally organized as the 221st Radio Relay Squadron in July 1952. Its operational headquarters was the 251st Combat Communications Group, 251st Group at Springfield ANGB, Springfield, Ohio, and the 136th Airlift Wing at Hensley Field supported it. Hensley Field
The Grand Prairie Armed Forces Reserve Complex or Grand Prairie AFRC (formerly Naval Air Station Dallas or Hensley Field) is a former United States Navy Naval Air Station located on Mountain Creek Lake in southwest Dallas. The installation was established as an Army aviation center, and eventually became home to aviation assets from all the military services. In December 1998, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) action decommissioned the naval air station; transferred Carswell AFB to the U.S. Navy and renamed it Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth / Carswell Field; and sent Grand Prairie's Naval Air Reserve, Marine Air Reserve and Texas Air National Guard flying units (wings, groups, squadrons) to Carswell. The United States Air Force's 251st Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group (251 CEIG) is an Air National Guard engineering installation unit located at Springfield ANGB, Ohio. It is the oldest communications/cyber group in the USAF and was originally chartered at the 251st Mobile Communications Group.
