''21st Century'' (known as 21st Century Digital Girl on some online stores) is the third album of the German Eurodance band Groove Coverage, released on July 7, 2006. It was previously available a few days earlier than expected on the German version of iTunes. Compared to Groove Coverage's previous albums, ''7 Years and 50 Days'' and ''Covergirl'', this album contains much more pop music such as "21st Century Digital Girl", "What You C is What You Get", and a rock song, titled "Rock". Groove Coverage
Groove Coverage is a German dance band which consists of Axel Konrad, DJ Novus, Melanie Munch, better known as Mell (lead singer), and Verena Rehm (former stage performer, backing singer, occasional lead singer). Producers of the band are Ole Wierk and Axel Konrad. The project was founded in the summer of 2001 by DJ Novus, in co-operation with Suprime Music (Konrad). With eleven singles in the German Top 50 and over 13 million records sold worldwide, Groove Coverage is one of the most successful German dance artists. Euro-Dance (sometimes referred to as Euro-NRG, Euro-electronica or Euro) is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in the late 1980s in Europe. "Moonlight Shadow" is a song written and performed by English multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield, released as a single in May 1983 by Virgin Records, and included on his eighth album, ''Crises'', of the same year. The vocals were performed by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly, who had collaborated with Mike Oldfield since 1980. It is Oldfield's most successful single, reaching number one on a number of charts around Europe. ''Covergirl'' is the first album of the German Eurodance group Groove Coverage, released in 2002. It features the 2 singles "Moonlight Shadow" and "God is a Girl" in both radio edit and ballad form. The Radio Edit of "God is a Girl" is a hidden track at the end of the album. The album features a few ballads and dance tracks. Both Melanie Munch and Verena Rehm provide vocals together for most songs, with the exceptions of "Lullaby for love" which is a Verena solo, and "Moonlight Shadow" which is a Mell solo with Verena providing the piano in the piano version. "Are You Ready" and "The Beat Just Goes'" are club tracks, neither of which Mell or Verena provide vocals for. "21st Century (Digital Boy)" is a song by the punk rock group Bad Religion. It was originally recorded in 1990 on their fifth full-length studio album '' Against the Grain'' and re-recorded on the 1994 album '' Stranger Than Fiction''. The following year it was included on the ''All Ages'' compilation release. Although the '' Against the Grain'' version was not released as a single, the '' Stranger Than Fiction'' version was a popular hit. The hit version was also featured on the 2002 compilation ''Punk Rock Songs'', which was not endorsed by the band. Re-recording In 1994, Bad Religion re-recorded the song for their eighth studio album '' Stranger Than Fiction''. Guitarist Brett Gurewitz claimed that Bad Religion re-recorded it because their then-label Atlantic Records said they did not "hear a single" in that album and thought the song was a hit so they asked the band to redo it.
