21 Ángeles (TransMilenio)
The simple station 21 Ángeles is part of the TransMilenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia, which opened in the year 2000. Location The station is located in northwestern Bogotá, specifically on Avenida Suba with Transversal 84. The station serves the demand of the Los Pinos area, Las Terrazas, as well as the Altos de Chozica and Provenza neighborhoods. A few blocks away is the bridge that connects the two hills of Suba, separated by the avenue (Transversal 66 or 81). History In 2006, phase two of the TransMilenio system was completed, including the Avenida Suba line, on which this station is located. The station is named 21 Ángeles due to its proximity to the site where 21 students of the Agustianio Norte school were killed on April 28, 2004 when the bus on which they were riding was crushed by a construction vehicle that was on the higher road. Suba, Bogotá
Suba is the 11th locality of Bogotá, capital of Colombia. It is located in the northwest of the city, bordering to the north the municipality of Chía, Cundinamarca, Chía in Cundinamarca Department, Cundinamarca, to the west the municipality of Cota, Cundinamarca, Cota, to the east the locality Usaquén and to the south the localities Engativá and Barrios Unidos. TransMilenio
TransMilenio is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system that serves Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and Soacha, a neighbouring city. The system opened to the public in December 2000. As of 2024, 12 lines totalling run throughout the city. It is part of the city's Integrated Public Transport System (Bogotá), Integrated Public Transport System (''Sistema Integrado de Transporte Público'' [SITP]), along with the urban, complimentary, and special bus services operating on neighbourhood and main streets. TransMilenio consists of several interconnected BRT lines, with raised floor stations in the center of a main avenue, or "''troncal''". Passengers typically reach the stations via a bridge over the street. Usually four lanes down the center of the street are dedicated to bus traffic.
