Avenida Suba is a major road in northern Bogotá, Colombia, connecting the locality of Suba with the rest of the capital. Etymology Avenida Suba is named after the locality Suba. Suba is either derived from the Chibcha contraction ''Suba'', meaning " Flower of the Sun" (uba = "fruit" or "flower", sua = "Sun", minus its last vowel, making it a possessive) or from the words ''sua'' (Sun) and ''sie'' (water). Chibcha Language
Chibcha, Mosca, Muisca, Muysca (*/ˈmɨska/ * �mʷɨska, or Muysca de Bogotá is a language spoken by the Muisca people, one of the many indigenous cultures of the Americas. The Muisca inhabit the Altiplano Cundiboyacense of what today is the country of Colombia. The name of the language ''Muysc cubun'' in its own language means "language of the people", from ''muysca'' ("people") and ''cubun'' ("language" or "word"). Suba is the 11th locality of Bogotá, capital of Colombia. TransMilenio is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system that serves Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and Soacha, a neighbouring city. The system opened to the public in December 2000. As of 2024, 12 lines totalling run throughout the city. Avenida Norte-Quito-Sur or NQS is an arterial road in Bogotá, Colombia that crosses the city from northeast to southwest. The avenue is formed from the union of three old avenues, Avenida Ciudad de Quito, Avenida Novena, and Autopista Sur. Barrios Unidos is the 12th locality of Bogotá, capital of Colombia. It is located to the northwest of the city, and is mostly inhabited by middle class residents. Portal de Suba is one of the terminus stations of the TransMilenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia, which opened in the year 2000. Location Portal de Suba is located in northwestern Bogotá, specifically on Avenida Suba with Avenida Ciudad de Cali. History The station opened April 29, 2006 after several months of construction delays on the line.
