20th Government Of Turkey
The 20th government of Turkey (9 March 1951 – 17 May 1954) was a government in the history of Turkey. It is also called ''the second Adnan Menderes, Menderes government''. Background Democrat Party (Turkey, historical), Democrat Party (DP) had won 1950 Turkish general election, the elections held on 14 May 1950, but prime minister Adnan Menderes resigned on 8 March 1951 in order to renew his cabinet. Adnan Menderes VI
Adnan ( ar, عدنان, 'adnān) is the traditional ancestor of the Adnanite Arabs of Northern, Western, Eastern and Central Arabia, as opposed to the Qahtanite Arabs of Southern Arabia who descend from Qahtan. His ancestry can be traced back to Abraham and from there to Adam and Noah. Origin According to tradition, Adnan is the father of a group of the Ishmaelite Arabs who inhabited West and Northern Arabia; he is a descendant of Ishmael, son of Abraham. Adnan is believed by genealogists to be the father of many Ishmaelite tribes along the Western coast of Arabia, Northern Arabia and Iraq. Many family trees have been presented by Adnan, which did not agree about the number of ancestors between Ishmael and Adnan but agreed about the names and number of the ancestors between Adnan and the Islamic prophet Muhammad. General elections were held in Turkey on 2 May 1954. The electoral system used was the multiple non-transferable vote. The result was a landslide victory for the Democrat Party, which won 503 of the 541 seats. Voter turnout was 88.6%. In 1983, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Security were merged into the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Sıtkı Yırcalı
Sıtkı Yırcalı (1908–1988) was a Turkish jurist and politician who served in various cabinet posts during the period between 1950 and 1958. He was a member of the Democrat Party and then of the Justice Party. Early life and education Yırcalı was born in Balıkesir on 13 September 1908. He hailed from a well-known family, and his father, Yırcalızade Şükrü, was a member of the Committee of Union and Progress who was active in its local branch. Sıtkı graduated from Kabataş Erkek Lisesi in 1928. He received a bachelor's degree in law from Istanbul University and a PhD in law from the University of Paris. Career Following his graduation Yırcalı worked as a lawyer in his hometown. He joined the Democrat Party in 1946 and became its head in Balıkesir. He was elected to the Parliament in 1950 and served there for three terms.
