2024–25 Sunshine Tour
The 2024–25 Sunshine Tour was the 54th season of the Sunshine Tour (formerly the Southern Africa Tour), the main professional golf tour in South Africa since it was formed in 1971. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2024–25 season. Order of Merit The Sunshine Tour#Order of Merit winners, Order of Merit was titled as the Order of Merit delivered by The Courier Guy and was based on tournament results during the season, calculated using a points-based system. The top three players on the Order of Merit (not otherwise exempt) earned status to play on the 2026 European Tour (DP World Tour). Daniel Van Tonder
Daniel van Tonder (born 12 March 1991) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the Challenge Tour and the Sunshine Tour. Professional career Van Tonder turned professional in 2011 and played on the Sunshine Tour. He has won 12 times on the tour, with his first two coming in 2014; the Investec Royal Swazi Open and the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Euphoria. He also won the Mopani Redpath Greendoor Logistics Zambia Open in 2019. In 2020, he won four tournaments on the Sunshine Tour in the space of three months. In March 2021, van Tonder claimed his first European Tour victory at the Kenya Savannah Classic. He defeated Jazz Janewattananond with a tap-in birdie on the third playoff hole. The following month he lost in a four-man playoff for the Limpopo Championship. In December 2021, van Tonder won the SA Open Championship; the Sunshine Tour's flagship event. Fortress Invitational (golf)
The Fortress Invitational, formerly known as the Ice Vegas Invitational, is an annual mid-season college ice hockey tournament that has been held since 2018 at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip. History The Ice Vegas Invitational was created by BD Global, a marketing firm that had produced various college sports events in the Las Vegas area, in partnership with MGM Resorts International, the operator of T-Mobile Arena. The organizers hoped that the tournament would attract the top college hockey teams in the country by its third year, fueled by growing appreciation of ice hockey in the area since the launch of the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League. They expected the Invitational to demonstrate the arena's viability as an eventual venue for the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship (the "Frozen Four"). Thriston Lawrence (born 3 December 1996) is a South African professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour, European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. He has won four times on the European Tour. Professional career Lawrence turned professional in 2014. He played on the MENA Tour in 2015 and the Challenge Tour in 2016. He won the MENA Tour Order of Merit in 2015. He played on the Big Easy Tour in 2018, gaining his card for the 2019–20 Sunshine Tour season. He won his first Sunshine Tour event in 2019 at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Stellenbosch. Victor Jean Hugo (born 3 December 1975) is a South African professional golfer. Golf career Hugo matriculated at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1994.
