2024 UK Open
The 2024 Ladbrokes UK Open was a darts tournament staged by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was the twenty-second year of the tournament where players compete in a single-elimination tournament to be crowned champion. The tournament was held at Butlin's Minehead, England, between 1–3 March 2024. Andrew Gilding was the defending champion after defeating Michael van Gerwen 11–10 in the 2023 UK Open, 2023 final to win his first major title, but he lost 10–1 to Peter Wright (darts player), Peter Wright in the fifth round. Dimitri Van den Bergh beat Luke Humphries 11–10 to win the UK Open for the first time in his career. Prize money The prize fund was unchanged at £600,000. Format The 158 participants entered the competition incrementally, with 62 players entering in the first round. Butlin's Minehead
Butlins Resort Minehead is a holiday camp operated by Butlins, located in Minehead in Somerset, England. It opened in 1962 and remains in use today. It was known as Butlin's Minehead until 1987, and as Somerwest World from then until 1999, when it reopened as Butlins Minehead Resort. History In the winter of 1961, Billy Butlin began work on creating a holiday camp in Minehead. The site was selected because of its flatness, good rail links, and proximity to the town and sea. The site was not without its problems, however, including flooding. In order to solve this, a trench was excavated around the site and an earth wall constructed. The trench later became the site's boating pond. The site opened to the public on 26 May 1962, the construction having cost £2 million. Dimitri Van Den Bergh
Dimitri Van den Bergh (born 8 July 1994) is a Belgian professional darts player who currently competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a two-time World Youth Champion and the 2020 World Matchplay champion, after beating Gary Anderson 18–10 in the final, in his first time competing in the Matchplay. Career BDO In 2013, Van den Bergh won the British Teenage Open by beating Billy Longshaw 3–0 in the final. Two months later he claimed the 16th PDC Challenge Tour event of the year by whitewashing Reece Robinson 4–0. PDC 2014 In 2014, he entered Q School in an attempt to earn a PDC tour card, but he couldn't advance beyond the last 64 in any of the four days. Harlow
Harlow is a large town and local government district located in the west of Essex, England. Chorlton-cum-Hardy is a suburban area of Manchester, England, southwest of the city centre. Chorlton ward had a population of 14,138 at the 2011 census, and Chorlton Park 15,147. South Benfleet
South Benfleet is a town and former civil parish, now in the unparished area of Benfleet, in the Castle Point district of Essex, England, 30 miles east of London. Adam Hunt (born 21 August 1993) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation events. Career Hunt began competing in PDC events in 2011 and won his first tournament in his second month, beating Josh Jones 4–2 in the final of the opening youth tour event of the year. In 2012 he qualified for the UK Open for the first time and defeated Steve Maish 4–2, before losing 4–1 to Arron Monk in the second round.
