2024 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
The 2024 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 30th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, the annual men's invitational international field hockey tournament hosted by Malaysia. The tournament returned after a one-year hiatus after it was postponed in 2023 due to the packed calendar. It was held at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Malaysia from 4 to 11 May 2024. The tournament consisted of six teams. The hosts Malaysia were the defending champions after winning their first title at the 2022 edition. They were not able to defend their title as they did not qualify for the final. The final was played between Japan and Pakistan, where Japan beat Pakistan 3–1 in the shoot-out following a 2–2 draw in regulation time. It was the first Sultan Azlan Shah Cup title for Japan. 2017 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
The 2017 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 26th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia from 29 April – 6 May 2017. The number of teams for this year’s cup has decreased by one compared to last year’s tournament where seven teams competed. Pakistan and Canada, who competed previously, will not join this edition and Great Britain had been invited. Great Britain defeated Australia 4–3 in the final to win the cup. Jacob Anthony Phillip Smith (born 3 April 1991) is a New Zealand field hockey player. Personal life Smith was born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand. Career Club level In the New Zealand National Hockey League Smith plays for Auckland. During the 2018–19 season, Smith relocated to the Netherlands to play in the Dutch Hoofdklasse for Pinoké. National team Smith made his national debut for the Black Sticks in 2012. Shortly after, he represented the team at his first major tournament, the Champions Trophy. George Baker (born 24 October 2002) is a field hockey player from New Zealand. Life George Baker grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand. Career Domestic league In the Ford National Hockey Championship, Baker represents Canterbury. Under–21 Baker made his international debut at under–21 level. Scott Boyde (born 5 August 1994) is an Australian born field hockey player from New Zealand, who plays as a forward. Personal life Scott Boyde was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland. The 2010 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 19th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, held between 6–16 May 2010. Due to bad weather, the final between India and Korea was abandoned after 6 minutes and 14 seconds of play.
