Triathlon
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of Swimming (sport), swimming, Cycle sport, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek language, Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. This history has meant that #Nonstandard variations, variations of the sport were created and still exist. It also led to other three-stage races using the name triathlon despite not being continuous or not consisting of swim, bike, and run elements. Richard Murray (triathlete)
Richard Murray (born 4 January 1989, in Cape Town) is a Dutch/South African triathlete. Murray won the Junior ITU Duathlon World Championships in 2007 and 2008, entered the adult Tri in 2009, and was the Under-23 African champion in both triathlon and duathlon in 2010, and was the elite African triathlon champion in 2011 and 2012. He scored his first win in the ITU World Triathlon Series in Hamburg in 2012. At the 2012 Summer Olympics men's triathlon on Tuesday, 7 August, he placed 17th. In 2014-2015, he was part of ECS Triathlon, an elite club based in Sartrouville, France. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won a silver medal in the mixed team relay and a bronze in the men's triathlon. He won the Gran Final of the World Triathlon Series (WTS) in Chicago in 2015. Huatulco (; ''wah-TOOL-coh''), formally Bahías de Huatulco, centered on the town of La Crucecita, is a tourist development in Mexico. It is located on the Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca. Max Stapley (born 30 January 1999) is a British triathlete. Early life A British national, Stanley was born in France, and also raised in Canada and Australia. Career In November 2022, he finished in sixth place in the U23 World Championships in Abu Dhabi. From January 2023, he represented Britain rather than Australia. In January 2023, he finished second behind Aurelien Raphae at the Arena Games in Munich. Stapley made his World Triathlon Championship Series debut in Sunderland in July 2023.
