2024 Chicago Sky Season
The 2024 Chicago Sky season is the franchise's 19th season in the Women's National Basketball Association, and their first season under head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. The season tipped-off on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, against the 2024 Dallas Wings season, Dallas Wings in Dallas. The offseason was marked by major coaching and roster changes. In October 2023, the team hired Weatherspoon as head coach, replacing interim head coach Emre Vatansever. The team also hired Jeff Pagliocca as general manager, separating this role from the head coaching position for the first time. Several starting players from previous seasons including Kahleah Copper, Alanna Smith, Courtney Williams, Astou Ndour-Fall, and Julie Allemand departed in free agency and trades. WNBA Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association is made up of six teams. From the league's second season in 1998 through 2015, the WNBA operated separate playoff brackets for its Eastern and Western Conferences. Each conference's playoff was divided into two playoff rounds, the Conference Semi-Finals and the Conference Finals, with the Conference Finals winners receiving Conference Championships and advancing to the WNBA Finals to determine the WNBA champion. In the final years of this playoff scheme, all in-conference playoff series were best-of-three. Since 2016, the league has abandoned separate conference playoffs in favor of a single league-wide playoff bracket. Brynna Maxwell (born August 29, 2000) is an American professional basketball player who is a free agent. She was drafted by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft. She played college basketball for the Utah Utes and Gonzaga Bulldogs. Early life Maxwell was born on August 29, 2000, in Portland, Oregon. The daughter of two college basketball players, she began playing the sport at an early age. She grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington, and attended Gig Harbor High School. She was a top player at Gig Harbor and finished as the team's all-time leading scorer (1,968 points), also setting other records including for most points in a game (48). Kysre Rae Gondrezick (born July 27, 1997) is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. She previously played for the WNBA's Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)'s draft for the 2024 season, following the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season, was held on April 15, 2024, the 29th draft in WNBA history. Michaela Nne Onyenwere (; born August 10, 1999) is a Nigerian-American basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and for the Uni Girona CB of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. Lindsay Allen (born March 20, 1995 in Clinton, Maryland) is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Morgan Bertsch (born April 20, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. She was drafted by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She played college basketball at UC Davis. College career Bertsch played her collegiate basketball for the UC Davis Aggies. Coming out of high school, Bertsch didn't play any AAU basketball and UC Davis was the only Division I school to offer her out of high school.
