2023–24 Sacramento State Hornets Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Sacramento State Hornets men's basketball team represents California State University, Sacramento in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They are led by second-year head coach David Patrick and play their home games at the Hornets Nest as members of the Big Sky Conference. Previous season The Hornets finished the season 14–18, 7–11 in conference play to finish in sixth place. In the Big Sky tournament, the Hornets lost their quarterfinals game against Weber State to end their season. David Patrick (basketball)
David Patrick (born 21 February 1976) is an Australian college basketball coach who is the head coach for the Sacramento State Hornets men's basketball team. He is the former head coach of the UC Riverside Highlanders men's basketball team. He is the godfather of NBA player Ben Simmons. Playing career Born in Bermuda, and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Patrick arrived stateside in 1994, enrolling at Chapel Trafton High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was district MVP and First Team All-Parish, while also being selected to play in the Louisiana State High School All-Star Game. In addition, Patrick continued to compete for Australia at the youth national level. Patrick attended Syracuse for one season where he was part of the Orange's 1996 NCAA tournament Final Four team, before transferring to play his remaining three years of eligibility at Southwestern Louisiana (later Louisiana–Lafayette). Sonora is the county seat of Tuolumne County, California. Maples Pavilion
Maples Pavilion is a 7,392-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of Stanford University in Stanford, California. Opened in 1969, Maples underwent a $30 million renovation in March 2004 and reopened ahead of schedule, in time for conference play that December. It was named after its principal donor, Roscoe Maples. History Roscoe Maples was an Oregon lumber magnate. Upon his death in 1963, Maples bequeathed most of his $2 million estate to the university. The 2023–24 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represented Stanford University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinal were competing in their last season as a member of the Pac-12 Conference after 45 years as they joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in the 2024–25 season. They played home games at Maples Pavilion. They were led by eighth-year head coach Jerod Haase, who was fired minutes after the team lost its last game of the season. Lawlor Events Center is northern Nevada's largest multi-purpose arena. It is located in Reno, Nevada at the intersection of North Virginia Street and 15th Street on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
