2023–24 Cypriot First Division
The 2023–24 Cypriot First Division is the 85th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. Aris Limassol are the defending champions, having won their first title in the 2022–23 season. Changes from previous season ENP, Akritas Chlorakas (both clubs relegated after a single season in top flight), and Olympiakos Nicosia (relegated for the first time since 2012-13) were relegated in the previous season. They have been replaced by Othellos Athienou (promoted for the first time in their history), AEZ Zakakiou (promoted after a 6-season absence), and Ethnikos Achna (promoted after a single season of absence), who were the top three teams in the 2022–23 Cypriot Second Division. Cypriot First Division
The Cypriot First Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Α΄ Κατηγορίας) is the top tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Since February 2016, it is sponsored by Cyta and is thus officially known as the Cyta Championship. The league is contested by 14 teams and runs from August to May, with the three lowest-placed teams being relegated to the Cypriot Second Division, and replaced by the top three teams in that division. 2022–23 Cypriot First Division
The 2022–23 Cypriot First Division is the 84th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. Competition system 14 teams will participate in the 2022–23 First Division. It will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, all teams will play each other twice, one at home and one away. After the completion of the 26 matches (A phase) the teams will participate in 2 groups (depending on their position) and will play ranking matches (B phase). The results, points and goals of the A' phase will be transferred to the matches. The teams in places 1–6 will compete for the championship and places leading to the European championships. The champion team secures their place in the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League. Ethnikos Achna Football Club ( el, Αθλητικός Σύλλογος Εθνικός Άχνας), commonly known as Ethnikos Achna, or simply Ethnikos, is a Cypriot football club based in the village of Achna. Founded in 1968, the club currently plays in the Cypriot Second Division. Ethnikos' home ground is the Dasaki Stadium, which has a capacity of 7000 seats. They are the only Cypriot team to win a UEFA competition. History The club played in the Cypriot Second Division until 1983 when it was promoted to the Cypriot First Division but was immediately relegated. Olympiakos Nicosia ( el, Ολυμπιακός Λευκωσίας, ''Olympiakos Lefkosias'') is a football club based in Nicosia, Cyprus and competes in the Cypriot First Division. The club was founded in 1931, and is a founding member of the Cyprus Football Association. The club colors are black and green. Akritas Chlorakas ( el, Ακρίτας Χλώρακας) is a Cypriot football club based in Chloraka, Paphos. The club was founded in 1971, and currently plays in the Cypriot First Division. Akritas' colours are green and white, and they play their home games at the Chloraka Municipal Stadium. History Founded in 1971, Akritas Chlorakas joined the Cyprus Football Association in 1973, competing in the Cypriot Third Division. For many years, Akritas fluctuated between the Second and Third Division, winning the Third Division a total of three times, and winning the Cypriot Cup for Lower Divisions on one occasion. Enosis Neon Paralimni Football Club ( el, Ένωση Νέων Παραλιμνίου, ''Enosi Neon Paralimniou'', "Youth Union of Paralimni"), commonly referred to as ENP, is a Cypriot football team from Paralimni. Currently playing in the first division, it holds home games at the Paralimni Municipal Stadium "Tasos Marcou", which holds 5,800 people. History Enosis Neon Paralimniou was founded in April 1944, following the merger of two Paralimni clubs, Heracles and People's Love. The club's emblem is the Parthenon, with a trumpeter and the year 1936 inscription, birth year of the club Heracles.
