2023 Tour Of Flanders
The 107th edition of the Tour of Flanders one-day cycling classic took place on 2 April 2023, as the 14th event of the 2023 UCI World Tour. The race began in Bruges and covered on the way to the finish in Oudenaarde. It was the second Monument of the 2023 cycling season. The race was won by Tadej Pogačar of , becoming only the third rider in history to win both the Tour de France and the Tour of Flanders. After attacking on the second ascent of Oude Kwaremont and Koppenberg to force a selection, Pogačar attacked on the last ascent of the Oude Kwaremont with around 18 kilometres remaining to drop his rivals, soloing the remainder of the race to win his third different cycling monument and fourth overall. Second place went to last year's winner, Mathieu van der Poel of , 16 seconds behind the Slovenian. Wout Van Aert
Wout van Aert (born 15 September 1994) is a Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He won the men's elite race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He joined in March 2019, on a three-year deal after terminating his contract with in 2018. Career Van Aert was born in Herentals, Flanders, into a family not involved in bike racing. One of his father's cousins is Dutch former professional cyclist Jos van Aert. Matteo Trentin (born 2 August 1989) is an Italian professional road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Professional career In 2014, Trentin took a prestigious victory on Stage 7 of the Tour de France, where he won the sprint by a few centimeters over Peter Sagan. Trentin had also won a stage of the same race on his maiden Tour start in 2013, winning in a sprint in Lyon against his breakaway counterparts. In October 2015, Trentin won Paris–Tours in record time for a race over 200 km, thus becoming the new ''Ruban Jaune''. By winning the fourth stage in the 2017 Vuelta a España, he completed the set of at least one stage win in each of the Grand Tours. Matteo Jorgenson
Matteo Jorgenson (born July 1, 1999) is an American professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He had an active 2022 Tour de France and was involved in several breakaways including on stage 10. He finished fourth, a result he was not satisfied with. On stage 16 there was a large breakaway of nearly 30 riders and Jorgenson was among them. Late in the stage he was one of the final surviving riders and was in the process of chasing down the lead rider Hugo Houle. He crashed while rounding a sharp corner. Despite the crash he was still able to finish fourth on the stage. In the 2023 Tour de France, he was involved in a 14-man breakaway on stage 9. With around 47 km remaining of the stage, he went clear, leading the stage for most of the climb up the Puy de Dôme. Fred Wright (cyclist)
Alfred Brockwell Wright (born 13 June 1999) is a British racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Originally from south east London, Wright moved to Manchester at the age of 18 to join the British Cycling Senior Academy, with a focus on the track. In August 2019, Wright joined UCI WorldTeam as a stagiaire for the second half of the season. In November 2019 it was announced that Wright was joining the team, later renamed as for the 2020 season. He was recruited to the team by Rod Ellingworth, the outfit's general manager, who had previously worked for the British Cycling Senior Academy. Kasper Asgreen (born 8 February 1995) is a Danish cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Asgreen won the 2021 edition of the Tour of Flanders by defeating Mathieu van der Poel in a sprint finish. Early life Asgreen was born in Kolding in the south of Denmark. He competed in dressage up to the age of 14, before joining Kolding Cycling Club. Career Asgreen signed for Danish Continental cycling team in 2016. In the same year, he finished second in the U23 event at the Danish National Time Trial Championships, as well as finishing second in the senior event.
