2023 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard
The 2023 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard was held from September 7 to 10 at the Oakville Curling Club in Oakville, Ontario. The event was held in a round robin format with a purse of $30,000 on both the men's and women's sides. It was the first Stu Sells sponsored event held as part of the 2023–24 season. The 2023 event was dominated by the three Scottish teams in the field who all reached the final. The men's championship saw the reigning world champions Bruce Mouat rink, with Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie and Hammy McMillan Jr. from Edinburgh defeat the Ross Whyte rink 6–2. Both teams entered the final with six straight wins in the event after going through the round robin undefeated. After Mouat got out to an early three-point lead, Whyte stole a single in the seventh to make the score 3–2 coming home where Bruce Mouat sealed the victory for his team. Delaney Strouse
Delaney Strouse (born July 12, 2000) is an American curler from Midland, Michigan. She currently skips her own team out of Traverse City. She is a two-time champion of the United States Junior Curling Championships, going on to win the bronze medal at the 2022 World Junior Curling Championships and the 2023 Winter World University Games. Career Strouse made her first appearance at the international level representing Michigan at the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships. As third for the Maya Willertz rink, the team finished with a winless 0–7 record. For the 2019–20 season, Strouse joined the newly formed Susan Dudt squad with Sydney Mullaney and Rebecca Rodgers. Gim Eun-ji
Gim Eun-ji also known as Gim Un-chi (born January 23, 1990) is a Korean curler from Gyeonggi-do. She currently skips the Gyeonggi Province curling team. Career Gim played as lead in her first world championship at the 2011 Capital One World Women's Curling Championship along with skip Kim Ji-sun. The team struggled finishing in last place with a 2–9 record. At the 2012 World Women's Curling Championship, South Korea made history by making the playoffs for the first time with a 8–3 record. They defeated Canada to advance to the semifinal, but lost a close game against eventual champions Switzerland. 2023 Korean Curling Championships
The 2023 Korean Curling Championships, Korea's national curling championships, were held from June 22 to 30 at the Gangneung Curling Centre in Gangneung, South Korea. The winning teams on both the men's and women's sides will become the Korean National Teams for the 2023–24 curling season. They will represent Korea at the 2023 Pan Continental Curling Championships and later the 2023 World Curling Championships if they reach qualification. The championship was held in three rounds. The 2022 Korean Curling Championships (branded as the 2022 KB Financial Korean Curling Championships), Korea's national curling championships, were held from June 11 to 17 at the Jincheon National Training Centre in Jincheon, South Korea. The winning teams on both the men's and women's sides became the Korean National Teams for the 2022–23 curling season. 2023 Euro Super Series
The 2023 Euro Super Series is a curling event among various countries of Europe. It was held from 17 to 27 August at the National Curling Academy in Stirling, Scotland. The women's event ran from 17 to 20 August with the men's event running from 24 to 27 August. The total purse for the event is £ 20,000 on both the men's and women's sides. In the men's event, the reigning world champion Bruce Mouat rink of Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie and Hammy McMillan Jr. won 8–5 over Scottish rivals Ross Whyte. Team Mouat finished 3–1 through the qualifying round before defeating James Craik in the quarterfinals and Cameron Bryce in the semifinals. John Epping
John Allan Epping (born March 20, 1983) is a Canadian curler from Toronto, Ontario. He currently skips his own team out of the Leaside Curling Club in East York, Toronto. Career Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Epping was a top junior curler, having won the Ontario Junior championship in 2004. At the 2004 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, his team finished with an 8-4 record, just out of the playoffs. He won the 2006 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with Julie Reddick, Scott Foster and Leigh Armstrong. He won the 2007 provincial mixed as well, but could not defend his national title. After Juniors, Epping played third for Nick Rizzo until switching positions with Rizzo in 2006, and thus skipping the team. 2023 World Men's Curling Championship
The 2023 World Men's Curling Championship (branded as 2023 BKT Tires & OK Tire World Men's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from April 1 to 9 at TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ottawa was selected as the host site in June 2022. It had originally been planned for the city to host the event in 2021, but the event was moved to the "Calgary bubble" due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the first time Ottawa hosted the men's Worlds. The format for the Championship featured a thirteen team round robin. The top six teams qualified for the playoff round where the top two teams received a bye while the remaining four played the first round. The event was expected to attract approximately 70,000 fans, which was ultimately exceeded. The Aberdeen Pavilion acted as the "patch" for the event, the site where fans gathered during the event.
