2023 Masters (darts)
The 2023 Cazoo Masters will be the eleventh staging of the non-ranking Masters darts tournament, held by the Professional Darts Corporation. It will be held from 27 to 29 January 2023 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England. Joe Cullen is the defending champion, after beating Dave Chisnall, 11–9 in the 2022 final. Qualifiers The Masters will feature the top 24 players in the PDC Order of Merit after the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship, with the top 8 automatically qualifying for the second round. Danny Noppert, Damon Heta, Ross Smith, and Callan Rydz will make their debuts in the event. The following players will take part in the tournament: Prize money The prize money was increased from £220,000 to £275,000 in total, with the winner earning £65,000. Marshall Arena
The Marshall Arena (formerly known as Arena MK, also Milton Keynes Arena) is a multi-purpose arena in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England, located beside Stadium MK. The multi-use event space is positioned over three floors and anticipates music and sporting events, conferences, exhibitions and parties. History The arena was to be the home of the Milton Keynes Lions professional basketball team. However, the retail developments that would have provided enabling funding were deferred due to lack of financing, leaving the Lions without a home. Following the conclusion of the 2011–12 season, the Lions could not secure a venue within Milton Keynes, resulting in a move south to the Copper Box. It officially opened on 8 February 2014 when it hosted the 2014 English National Badminton Championships. 2023 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2022/23 Cazoo World Darts Championship) is the upcoming 30th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event will take place at the Alexandra Palace in London from 15 December 2022–3 January 2023. is the defending champion, after defeating 7–5 in the 2022 final. Format All matches will be played as single in, double out; requiring the players to score 501 points to win a leg, finishing on either a double or the bullseye. Matches will be played to set format, with each set being the best of five legs (first to three). For all rounds except the first, the deciding set has to be won by two clear legs, unless the set score goes to 5–5, in which case a sudden-death leg will be played. Callan Rydz
Callan Rydz ( born 3 July 1998, from Newcastle upon Tyne) is a professional England, English darts player who plays in the Professional Darts Corporation events. Darts career At 2018 PDC Q-School he tried to win a tour card, however he missed out on the points table by virtue of countback. He played on the Challenge Tour and Development Tour throughout the year. As a result of his Development Tour exploits, he qualified for the 2018 PDC World Youth Championship and progressed through the early group stage. He managed to reach the semi finals, including a victory over the #1 seed Luke Humphries but lost out 6–3 to eventual runner up Martin Schindler. He also tried to win a tour card in 2019 Q-School. He came in 10th place but didn't succeed due to countback. Ross Smith (darts Player)
Ross Smith (born 12 January 1989) is an English professional darts player who plays in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is the winner of the 2022 European Championship. Career Smith began playing in Professional Darts Corporation events in 2005 and made his debut in the Vauxhall Spring Open, reaching the last 16. Smith then reached the final of the WDF Europe Youth Cup, losing to Dutchman Johnny Nijs. Smith had little success afterwards on the PDC circuit and switched to the BDO in 2007. He reached the last 16 of the 2008 British Classic and the 2008 Czech Open. Smith qualified for the 2009 BDO World Darts Championship, winning one of five places in the qualifiers in Bridlington. Damon Heta (born 10 August 1987) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the Brisbane Darts Masters in 2019 and also, in pair with Simon Whitlock, World Cup of Darts in 2022. His nickname is "The Heat", a play on letters within his surname. After World Cup win, his teammate Simon Whitlock regarded him as best player on the world. Career A roofer by trade, Heta has mainly played on the Dartplayers Australia (DPA) Tour. Danny Noppert (born 31 December 1990) is a Dutch professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a former BDO World Darts Championship finalist, as well as being a Finder Darts Masters champion in 2017, before switching to the PDC in 2018, where he won the 2022 UK Open. Career BDO In 2013, Noppert reached the televised stages of the Winmau World Masters. Then he beat Jeffrey de Graaf and Dennis Nilsson 3–0 to book his places in quarter-final, where he was beaten 3–1 by Darryl Fitton. He also made his debut at the Zuiderduin Masters. PDC Order Of Merit
The PDC Order of Merit is a world ranking system used by one of the darts organisations, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Following the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship it superseded a world ranking system based on points being awarded for performances in ranking tournaments. How it works The Order of Merit is similar to that employed in golf's European Tour. Prize money won during the previous two seasons is calculated and the rankings are determined from this money list. Dave Chisnall
Dave Chisnall (born 12 September 1980) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He began his career in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and was the runner-up in their World Championship in 2010. He switched to the PDC a year later where he has since reached six major TV finals and won 17 PDC ranking events. Since his switch to the PDC, Chisnall has been a staple in the top 20 of the rankings, appearing in the Premier League five times, and representing England at the PDC World Cup on three occasions.
