2023 Diamond League
The 2023 Diamond League is the 14th season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition is a revision to the top level athletics series since Diamond League foundation in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events is 32, and the dual-meet final format was due to be replaced by a single final, which would have reduced the number of meetings to 14. Each meeting will host a number of Diamond Discipline events according to allocation and some of these events will not be broadcast. Events losing Diamond Discipline status will feature on the World Athletics Continental Tour, the second tier of track and field meetings. 2022 Diamond League
The 2022 Diamond League was the thirteenth season of the Diamond League, an annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition was a revision to the top level sport of athletics, athletics series since the Diamond League was founded in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events was 32, and the dual-meet final format was due to be replaced by a single final, which would have expanded the number of meetings to 14. A second Chinese meeting was added to the calendar. The reduction of events was aimed at allowing a standardized 120-minute television format for the series. Each meeting will host a number of Diamond Discipline events, only some of which would be broadcast. 2023 Golden Gala
The 2023 Golden Gala was the 43nd edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Italy. Held on 2 June at the in Florence, it was the third leg of the 2023 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. The highlight of the meeting was Faith Kipyegon running 3:49.11 to break the world record in the 1500 m, beating Genzebe Dibaba's mark from 2015. She ran the race in a negative split, covering her first 800 metres in 2:04.1 but her last 800 m in 2:00.6. Kipyegon also became the only woman in history to run under 3:50. Results Athletes competing in the Diamond League disciplines earned extra compensation and points which went towards qualifying for the Diamond League finals in Zürich. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. Bislett Stadium
Bislett Stadium ( no, Bislett stadion) is a sports stadium in Oslo, Norway. Bislett is Norway's most well known sports arena internationally, with 15 speed skating world records and more than 50 track and field world records having been set here. The original stadium was demolished in 2004 and construction of a new stadium was completed by the summer of 2005. The New Bislett Stadium was designed by C.F. Møller Architects. History Bislett Stadium lies on the site of a 19th-century brick works, which was bought by the Municipality of Kristiania (Oslo) in 1898, and turned into a sports field in 1908. The merchant, speed skater, gymnast and sports organizer Martinus Lørdahl was instrumental in facilitating the construction of the first bleachers, begun in 1917 and completed in 1922 along with the new club house. Bislett Games
The Bislett Games is an annual track and field meeting at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. History The first international athletics meeting at Bislett was held in 1924. Until 1937 the competitions are known as "The American Meetings". Different organizers staged the meetings between 1947 and 1965 until the three athletics associations BUL, Vidar and Tjalve formed the Bislett Alliance. At this year Arne Haukvik founded the Bislett Games. He was a former politician and director of the meeting, who used to invite the athletes, sponsors and the press to his home for his traditional "strawberry party" the day before the event each year. He died of cancer in 2002 at age 76. The tradition however is continued. 2023 Bislett Games
The 2023 Bislett Games was the 57th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Oslo, Norway. Held on 15 June at Bislett Stadium, it was the sixth leg of the 2023 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. The highlight of the meeting was the men's 5000 metres, where Jacob Kiplimo and Yomif Kejelcha battled to the line in a photo finish with both runners being awarded a time of 12:41.73 seconds, but Kejelcha being deemed the winner. It was the first time in history that any person had ever run under 12:45 in the 5000 m while still being contested at the finish by another competitor. Reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a personal best in the 1500 metres, running under 3:28 for the first time. Stade Sébastien Charléty
Stade Sébastien-Charléty (; ), also known as Stade Charléty or Charléty, is a multi-purpose stadium located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. Comprising a running track and a football field, the stadium is a 20,000-seat state-owned venue used for numerous sports and events. It is also the current home ground of the rugby union team of Paris Université Club, who operate the venue, and the association football clubs Paris FC and Paris 13 Atletico. Meeting de Paris (formerly known as the Meeting Areva and Meeting Gaz de France) is an annual track and field meeting at the Stade Sébastien Charléty in Paris, France. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. It was first organized in 1999. The record attendance was set on 1 July 2005, with a total of 70,253 spectators. History The origins of the meet date back to 1984 when Michel Zilbermann organised an athletics meeting at the Stade Auguste Delaune. Another meeting in Paris was held annually in the Stade Sébastien Charléty. The two meets collaborated to create a new event in the Stade de France in 1999.
